I have a 2000 eclipse gt. I am trying to remove the transmission in order to replace the clutch. I have removed both drive shafts, unscrewed all bolts holding transmission in place, and tried to pull it apart from the engine. The transmission moved 1 inch and then it stopped. I was told that I need to disingage the throw out bearing with a screwdriver, but this doesnt seem to work, or i might be doing it wrong.
Please help.. I need this car to drive to work and back.

rear engine mount? i belive that has to come out as well
i do kno there is a pin in the trans a ways up you need a long piece of metal at least 2 ft. long to reach (at least on the 2003 models) that they had trouble w/ when they did my car
have you found this yet?

you haven't ordered a clutch yet? crap,
if i were you i'd get an ACT heavy duty, it has not TOB rattle and if you plan on being modded, otherwise and clutch KIT will work off e-bay, i bought an exedy stock replacement kit for less than 200$
spec is good, but its got quite the break-in period and i have heard it won't hold up to some constant racing , it'll start to slip, but will go back to normal afterwards which wouldn't matter with a normal everyday driver
any plans on getting a flywheel?

preeeeetttyyy funny about the plate, you gotta read the fine print on all of the ebay stuff you purchase!!! just to be safe!
no you don't need a new flywheel, you DO need to resurface the one you have though if you do not get a new one

my rear engine mount? yeah its alright, not a problem so far, but i dont kno how it SHOULD feel so i have nothing to compare it to, def. more firm and responsive than stock though, and i get some vibration through the steering wheel, which i didn't before hand
big difference in driveability (feels sooo much better)
which brand did you go w/???
if i had another chance i would have gone with deyeme just for ease of install since it isn't an insert:smokin:

Oh crap sorry no the exedy clutch is what I was talking about. Quoted the wrong comment. Haven't gotten any engine mounts as of yet. But anyways have you had any problems with the exedy clutch as of yet.

not that i kno of it grabs about the same as stock, which will mean it'll go start to not grab so hard in another... 20k miles or so
i just got it for a replacement, my best suggestion is a ACT clutch

Well mine started slipping on me and as much as I would like the ACT I can afford one right now. Eventually I'll get an ACT but I am going to wait until I have and LSD and a Alum Flywheel so that I can get them all put in at the sametime

then the one i got is your best choice, seen them for like 189 or 185 w/ dif. shipping rates on ebay
and if you need a flywheel, holla over here, i got a spare laying around, like if yours is warped, or anything

Yeah I got mine for 188.90 and that included shipping, handling, and insurance off of ebay. Is it the stock flywheel or is it an alum flywheel that you have lying around

stock, 5k miles on it, already re-surfaced. i got it just in case my alum. flywheel deal fell through, cuz i knew the one i had in there was warped.
its kinda hard selling the stock flywheel unless someone screwed their own up!
if i could get alum. ones' that cheap i'd be rich selling them to you guys though, they aren't easy to get under 500$ a piece new
i may work on that though, i'll keep looking and see if i can't get a bunch wholesale

This link that you provided was PERFECT! 2 days i spent trying to take off the tranny and replace the clutch and it was driving me crazy. Other trannys on other cars are much easier but this tranny is a little tricky. But that link you provided was prefect it had detailed instructions on how to remove. This forum was very helpful.
