Losing brakes

1994 S-10 with ABS while I'm braking if I happen to hit a pothole or if under hard braking and the ABS kicks in, I lose almost all of my pedal. It nearly hits the floor. The only way to get it back is to bleed the system and the problem is corrected until the next time. I've checked for leaks and there is no loss of fluid to be found. Anyone have any ideas what would cause this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe there's a TSB on this. I had a '91 w/ABS and it would do the same thing. There's supposedly a fix for the ABS computer.

mike I had the new software installed back in 2001 unless there was a more recent one. Thanks for the reply

could be a leaking/bad accumulator in the dump valve, dont ask where it is, that is your baby to find, but the do go bad and would cause a 'needing bled' problem

well the old RWAL systems, the dump valve was big enough to hold a LOT of fluid. under normal abs braking it wasnt so bad but if you did a pedal pump or two while under abs braking it could fill up.

dump valves are a failure item
