Exhaust inside car

Ok when it gets cold out side i go turn on the hear. I put it on recirculate so it doesn't pick up any of the outside air. When i get back in the car it smells very strongly of exhuast almost to the point where i need to roll down the windows. It also does this just sitting at a stop light. Any ideas where this could be comming from?

Check for any exhaust leaks.

I would guess for an exhaust leak at either the manifold / turbo of the turbo / 02. I've dealt with both of these recently.

Yeah, you've probably got an exhaust leak somewhere between the engine and cat can get into the cabin that strongly. Does your exhaust sound kinda shitty? An easy way to check for leaks is to run it on a really cold day and look at the exhaust parts, you'll be able to see where the exhaust is.

heheh it woudln't be wear your cat or test pipe is.... mine has a huge leak at the test pipe to down pipe.... where it basically is my exhaust.. the res is just for show.... so it woudn't be leaking from there.... i would look at your manifold or where it connects to the turbo... but im also drunk right now

Mike had to run open DP and it was bad enough that we had to crack the windows.

Could there be a hole in the floor of the trunk whick would cause the smell?

yeah but its only like that when the car is sitting still. If I'm moving there is no problem but i guess that would make sense because the air is blowing through the engine...
