Tansmission control module

I have a 94 Jeep grand Cherokee and I am replacing my Tansmission control module(TCM), I have read that it is under the dash, driver's side to the left of the steering column. What if I can not find it? I have the new part so I know what it looks like but I have looked and I can't find it. Am I a retard or could it be somewhere else, or can you tell me where more specifically.
