V8 runs like a V6

I have a 94 camaro z28. I have been round with this car for about 2 years. I have had 3 sets of plugs and wires in the last year and im on distributor #3. My current problem consists of the car overheating and running really sluggish. I had my codes checked and the Mas air flow sensor was bad, however I had it checked again and I couldnt pull any codes that indicated there was anything wrong. Sometimes it acts up and sometimes it doesnt. I dont know what to do with it. I have an exhaust leak and a crack in my heater core, but that shouldnt cause it to run so sluggish. When I press the gas its almost like a hollow feeling, and then all the sudden the car will speed up, like a delayed reaction. Help me!!!!!

Your car probably has a bad ICM, but that would be if the RPMs jumped around. Maybe its your throttle position sensor, id go and replace that first.

My RPMs dont jump around at all. The car runs so sluggish. Another one of my friends told me that my ECM might be fried. Thanks for your input, Rally Sport!!!

Well a throttle position sensor will cost hella lot cheaper than ECM, atleast it did for my 3rd gen.

Sounds like your timing is way the heck off.

It will cause inadequete spark and overheating.

I would go with what wright said, but in addition check your prom chip, could be screwed, and sending the wrong signals to the ecm.

But also be aware that MAF sensors dont always go out all at once, they can go out slowly and as a result, sometimes it works ok and others, not so good. So the MAF may still be bad. But I agree with the others, start with checking the timing and if its line seems to be jumping around when your testing it with the timeing light, then it may be time to do the timeing chain.:2cents:

My blazer did the same thing. Take off the MAF, and look inside at the little sensors. Are they black? If they are, try wiping them off with a dry cloth. It worked for me. Sometimes it will show a code, othertimes it doesn't, but it still runs like crap. Hope that helps! :)
