I've been noticing that every time I shut my Explorer off that a small but noticable amount of smoke comes out from the engine. The location from the smoke comes out from a tube thats right underneath the oil dipstick. The pipe looks like it's wrapped in a white cloth like material I think he might have to do with the fuel line. But, I also notice that theres some ecsses engine oil on and around the oil dipstick. I looked underneath the vehicle and it has an oil leak. I'm convinced that the engine oil come into contect with the hot pipe and produced the smoke.
Can anyone please help me or give a sence of what I should cause I asked around and some people said it was normal for smoke.
Thank you

I think the pipe your describing is the EGR tube. This tube gets HOT when the vehicle is running, which is why its wrapped. I would inspect the valve covers, to make sure they aren't leaking. Second would be check how well the dipstick fits in the tube. If the oil is coming from the dipstick tube, your PCV system may not be working properly which allows pressure to build inside the engine. To test the PCV valve, start the engine. Remove the PCV valve from the righthand(from front of engine) valve cover. Put your finger over the hole in the bottom of it. Is there vacuum, if not you need a new one. Also check it with the engine off. To do this, pull the PCV valve off the rubber hose and shake it. It should rattle..
