There is no "fast idle" on most modern vehicles.
Does your car not start well, or die immediately after starting?

More than likely the Idle Air control valve. It is located at the top, center, rear of engine. It had a hose about an inch in diameter and a wiring connection. It is held in place by 2 8mm bolts. Easily replaced.

Yup, very easily. When you buy the new one, you'll be able to figure out which part the old one is-LOL

Does your car not start well, or die immediately after starting?
then why do cars idle fast when you start them in cold weather.

I don't think ModMech was talking about the modern electrically controlled valves our modern day cars use.
