Power=118kW
That's all I know. 2kW up on Aussie versions. B16A engine. Needs major suspension tuning compared to 2nd gen CRXS (first Aussie ones) and looks awesome.

JDM SiR del sol(EG2) is the same as a EG6 civic but i think the del sol weights abit more than a EG6 civic

170hp

Same drive train etc as a EG6/9 SiR Civic 170hp @7800rpm 16.0kgm/rpm @ 7300 (roughly 115 ft lb in old measurement)
vented front disc, solid rear. 8200 redline.

Basic SiR (Non ABS/TCS) is 1090kg compared to 1040kg for the equivalent EG6 Sir Hatch.

Electric roofs are troublesome. Average of them working is 10,000 times. This might sound alot but if its an early one thats only about 3 times a day. so if your unlucky its $$$. Most of them strip the gears, mine the computer got wet. It cost me $2000 ($1500 for parts from strong bros with 20% off for trade)to convert it to manual roof. This saves around 50kg as well so the performance difference was noticable afterwards as well. Boot space increased from 140 to 300 litres.

Watch the roof seals. They are supposed to be regularly lubed with silicon grease, a good percentage arnt. They will leak if not in good condition (like mine does). Theres 3 seals (front, back and roof panel). These are really expensive to replace. the front one alone is $390.

The chassis is not as good as a civic. Mine has a front strut bar which makes a noticable difference over the stock one but its still not outstanding.

They go really well but have less torque than your teg (and alot less than the mitsi) especially down low so youve got to wind them up to get them to go well.

The back window is great, I never had it down in summer. now its winter it pretty much stays up though. I havnt had the roof off in about 6 weeks, but did all the time before then.

Any specific questions Ill be happy to try and help

cheers man!! Thats all good info.

So basically, its a reel good idea to get it hardcore checked out, like, the car seems to drive very well, and seems very tight etc, but the roof and boot is full eletric, and the roof dont work, they said they are prepared to drop in price or get it fixed, but im trying to do a deal, on a swap plus cash to me sorta thing. SO its a matter of negociation really. SO could a honda dealer do this manual converstion to change the roof? Do u have any idea on how much it is to get the gears fixed and keep it on auto? is that cheaper? it would be something id use only in summer, for obivous reasons.

The gearbox seems really tight, and very short throw, is urs? it is black and has 93,000 is round 9k, but maybe cheaper now, cos of the roof, apart from that, i cant find much wrong with it. DOes urs only leak in heavy rain, cos it was raining today, and there seemed to be nothig wrong, however, it had died off alot before i got the drive.

cheers for ur help.

It would depend on what is wrong with the roof as to how much it would cost to fix. Most SiR's are electric roof so places like strong bros have more electric parts than manual parts. If I were you Id either get them to fix it or find out exactly what is wrong with it. If got the whole mechanism here if its any use to you. I wouldnt want very much for it but freight would be pretty expensive.

when it rains i usually get a few drips run down the inside of the passengers window and ocassionally the odd drip onto the passengers knee. Just check the seals out, remove the roof panel (Even if the roof dont work just unclip the two side handles and it will lift out, the middle rear one is only to lock it into the lifter mechanism so you dont have to move that to take it out) and see what they are like, are they slip or pitted or missing chunks or anything?

Yeah the gearbox is really close together, alot more than a civic.

To convert it to manual is actually pretty simple but I doubt a honda place would do it. All you need to do is. Get the bootlid hinges (bootlid has holes for being mounted both ways so dont need changed) the gas struts that hold the bootlid, the spot welded brackets that these are held onto, the rack the roof sits on, the struts to hold this, the brackets on the back that they rack sits on when cliped in place, the clip for the rack that looks similar to a boot lock, a new boot lock, a new tumbler (you can change the bits over inside to keep the same key but the tumbler is slightly different) two brackets that go against the front of the boot that hold trim, all the boot carpet (its all different) including sides, the plastic panel that goes across under the rool bar (that bit that sticks out isnt there on manual ones), and a new roof panel (the eletric roof is metal skin with the pin in the back, the manual is plastic or fibreglass or somthing and straight across the back).

Undo 6 bolts and the whole mechanism lifts out, cut the two supporting bits that stick out in the front on either side off(theyre only spot welded and get in the road of the hinges). get the bracket that holds the hinges on welded back on, bolt the hinges on, change the boot lock and tumbler, bolt on the bootlid, attach the struts to see exactly where the brackets for them have to go (theres pins that lin up in holes so u cant get it wrong). set up the boot so it closes properly (slotted holes on the hinges) attach the roof rack (it bolts onto the hinge brackets), attach the gas struts for them then weld the brack onto the front wall that they attach on. weld the two brackets and rack clip onto the back wall so that the rack sits in the right place. Go see and electrician to get the computer removed(its in the front left corner of the boot and the trim wont fit if you leave it there) when this is removed all the windows wont work so this has to be fixed. Fit trip and your finished.

It sounds alot harder to read that than it actually is, if you could weld and do the electrical work you could do it in a few hours other than waiting for paint to dry.

If you get the electrical roof to work again, the back window wont go down when the boot is up and the boot wont go up if the back window is down (safety measure so you cant have anything sticking through there).

I can change the roof manualy quicker than I could when it was electric it just takes more effort.

christ dejoux that does come across as alot of work, as u say, maybe it seems like so much more wen it is written down. I do fancy the idea of a full auto system, and if u think its easier to get parts that way, then maybe Ill do that, I'll pretty much know today wat the deal is on the car, therefore I'll basically know if im getting it or not, so ill keep u folks posted, but I have decided that i would like ot get into a del sol. I like the idea alot!

They dont have lsd eh?
