This is my desk at work inside my office, i have a bad memory, that's what all the post its and papers are for. And yes, that's AIM in the background of the computer, i took this at the end of the day and it was dead.

I'm just curious to see what everyones work environment looks like.

Here they are:

Job Description: I'm a graphic designer for a custom sign shop (www.baldwinsigns.com), and basically get paid to sit at a computer and draw all day using Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop... Sometimes I help out in the shop laying vinyl, or cutting sign faces, stuff like that.

Sweet office, i suppose i could have said what i do. My job is to handle all the service warranty claims for the dealership, which includes factory and extended warranties. I call the extended warranty companies to get repairs authorized and i determine how many hours a technician gets for warranty work he does. Also i do payroll for the service department.

well I'm currently uh "inbetween" jobs right now so I guess you could say I am freelancing now... so here are my "work desks".

here's my desktop... pretty messy but eh haven't really been doing much with it.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/68508desk.jpg

here's my drawing desk... with an unfinished drawing from last year still sitting on it, and yes that is the most recent drawing i've done haha.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/68508drawing-desk.jpg

And last but not least, the spot where most of my current projects have been completed... the coffee table in my living room. Complete with new laptop and coffee cup...

yes it is, just got it in october. 1.5 gigs of memory and the upgraded video card. 1.67 ghz processor.

Its pretty nice but I think my 5 year old desktop with 1.7 ghz P4 and 640 mb of memory could hand it its ass in performance.

My job can be fun...at times. But working on cars is not something I want to do for the rest of my life. It's extremely stressful and physically demanding. Back in the day an experienced Mercedes tech could make anywhere from $100-200k a year easily. Now the vehicles are harder to diagnose due to all the electronics and we get paid LESS to repair them. It's good money for now but I'm going back to school sometime next year so I can start an Automotive Engineering degree.

i wish i would taken the cam yesterday, we played turkey bowling. Those of you who might be thinking what the heck is that. We'll stand up half gallons of milk, set them um like bowling pins, grab the turkeys that have the handle on them and.... you figure out the rest. One rule, if the cartons break, you lose and find "mon chee chee (floor guy that looks like a chimpanzee) to clean it up.

This is my workplace. I work in the Skydive DeLand gear store. Fun teenage job to do until I go to college next year. hry nicole, me and a co-worker werte talking last night about skydiving and were wondering How many parachutes fail, or don't open? and next is, did the backup fail too? I am just wondering my chances of dying! "gee the ground is coming at me pretty fast" SPLAT!!! i am serious though, have there been many instances where both 'chutes didn't work, and did the person live?

CCLaguna
12-30-2005, 04:40 PM
If both of the chutes fail, i'm sure your chances of living are about 0.5% .... I doubt the statistics are very high over chutes failing thou.

2.2, I can't see any pictures.

As for the rest of your questions about main and reserve parachutes both failing, it's extremely unlikely. I don't think it's ever happened at the drop zone I work at, and we've been open since 1982.

It is a USPA (US Parachute Association) regulation that reserves must be unpacked, inspected, and repacked every 120 days to avoid any problems due to being in a small container for a long period of time.

And actually, a woman in California just had an accident where one of her brakes didn't fire, and she was spiraling out of control, hit the ground at about 50 mph and survived. And she's pregnant.

It's actually very uncommon though. Most of the people that are involved in skydiving accidents are extremely overconfident.
