New Struts

I bought the car during the summer in Ohio. A few weeks ago i moved to North Carolina. The temperature is getting cold and way below freezing at nice sometimes. I know my rear struts are in bad shape as it is but they are expensive. Every time i run over a small hole or bump it sounds as if there is something banging in my trunk.(that is how bad of shape the struts are in). But anyway since it has been getting cold in the morning it seems as if the strut is frozen. I tried jumping on the rear left of my car to loosen it up but it just stays stiff and nothing moves. I wouldnt really mind it besides the fact that it is really really bouncy when its stiff and it gets annoying fast. PLZ HELP.....also...my car is a Celica STX.....why is it not on any databases where you fill out your car information type.

Ideally, struts are changed every 60000-70000 miles...maximum. When the weather gets real cold, the oil and gas in the inside "shrunk". When this happens, the struts' shaft travels a little easier (soft). So, w/ the combined cold weather and bad struts to begin with, theres really only one solution...replacement.
Bilstein or KYB gas shocks are good.

hey Jcortes88, im in the same boat as you are. My 92 GT struts are in horrible condition (got the same "junk in the trunk" sound when i hit any imperfection in the road). And im probably as stubborn as you as far as breaking down and buying new shocks. NOPI.com has KYB struts (for the front end) on sale for about $33.00 right now. Now the back ones are more expensive everywhere you go (or at least thats what ive found. If you wait and watch eBay you may come across a good deal on the rears. Anyhow, good luck on your ordeal.

I don't know if your problem is actually your struts, mine did that and I replaced my springs and shocks, and it doesn't do it as much, but still does when it is cold and when I first start the car. It could be the bushings underneath which are a pain to replace. Might wanna make sure it is the shock before replacing it.

yesh, make sure if your shocks are actually worn... b/c celicas are NOT a comfy car. How does it feel when you're taking on corners? excessive body roll? squats when braking? Mine went bad at one time (119000 miles), when I corner hard, the inside wheels lifted, then a lot of understeer happens... now thats definitely dangerous and obvious enough -
