Wire your positve on the neons to 12v positive. (wire it into the accy. spot on your fuse box.) Ya know those little pegs in the door jams that go in when you shut the door. Yea tear out the interior to get to the back side of on of those pin things, wire your ground into the wire connected to the little door pin.

Your dome light is a constant circut. That light ALWAYS has 12v pos going to it. When you open the door that little pin in the door jam comes out, inside the pin there is a peice of metal that only makes contact with ground when the pin is fully extended (the door open) the ground for the door is wired to this piece of metal. So the dome always has power, just like your neons. But only has ground when you open the door.

Now that was for if you have your dome set to come on when the doors open. If you mean the manual turn on, yeah you have to actualy dig into the dome light to splice into the wire going from the switch to the actual light. Sorry bud.

It's the ground wire that's controlled by the door pin thing? I have mine wired up and ready to install the neon, except I disconnected the wires going from the dome light to the door pin switch thing and am using the positive wire as the wire to be on/off depending on if the door is closed or not. The ground will go from the neon and just be directly grounded.

Do you want your neons to come on hen you open the door?

Yes I do... it's one of those push pin things that when the pin is pushed in, the connection is broken. I disconnected the wires for the dome light going to this pin, because my dome light has never worked for some reason.

I was originally going to use the wiring for the dome light so I wouldn't have to wire my own power wire for the neon, but I tested it with the continuity tester and realized it was connected to ground, so I totally rewired it.. now I realize it was probably because the dome light was using ground as the wire going to the pin!

I hooked up my neon last week so it turns on when you open the door, it's pretty cool, works good. I also have two switches, one to turn it on constant, and one to turn it off completely.

Pics of the neon? It's nothing special... I can tell you how it's wired if you like, or pics but it will be a little while before I post them.

The one switched to the driver's door is in the back of the cab, right above the rear window. I also have one above the driver's feet and one above the passenger's feet. They look pretty cool at night, plus you can't see the actual neon tubes, just the blue glow.
