First off, has this problem just started, or has it been ongoing? If you live in a cold climate, they might be responding to the cold weather. If you still have the original motors in the doors, they are almost 20 years old and may be getting tired, especially if they have been used a lot over the years. I always say start with the cheapest fix first, then work your way up. That would be to check the track the windows slide up and down on for any obstructions, and lightly coat them with WD-40 or lithium grease. If that doesn't do the trick, then my guess from experience, would be the motor(s) may be on their way out. Usually the window switches work or they don't and from my experience with the cars I've worked on in the past it has been the window motor. Almost 20 years out of these motors is good. I've seen them fail in as little as 2 to 3 years.

the switches may be dirty and not making clean contact
