Will not run at all or will not run right?
Have you cleared and rechecked the code.
Is everything hooked up and ready to go.
Any sensors unpluged or air intake hose off or lose?
What engine and how many miles on it?

lets see the truck is a 03 zr2 with a 4.3 lt and stick shift it seems to have all plug in and hoses in good order it has 27k miles and it will just start and run if you try to give it any gas it kills it some times you can get it up to 1k rpms but thats it and the only thing i saw was spark coming out from under the rubber to cap joint on the coil wire only so i put on a cap and wires and yes i put them on right there does seem to be a little spark getting out because you can see it sparking to a vac hose for the cc so i moved it but my ? is can this spark be shocking the pick up in the distribtor or ecm. After i moved the cc vac hose you cant see the spark but it bites if you get your hand on it

if you have a spark jumping at idle, under load its going to be jumping a lot more. which wire is it exactly? i know on those 4.3s you gotta make sure the wire is secure in the cap. i usually push the wire out of the boot a little bit so when i plug it on the wire stops and i move the boot to where its supposed to be. if that wire is shocking you then there is something weird goin on there. did you do a cap AND rotor?

A spark or other electrical discharge near the distributor can cause a false trigger inside the distributor. Did you get any silicone in a tube with those wires? If so, it needs to be used. Just squeeze a small portion into the wire boot and snap it back on. If this doesn't remedy the problem, I would suspect a faulty coil.. As far as the MAF code, did you pull the battery cable off for a few minutes to reset the PCM after installing the new one? You should..

I think you spotted the problem.
Make sure all of the wires ar snapped on good.
With only 27K I would see if it has warranty on it.
If you have a good dealer they should take care of it for you.

First off let me thank all of you for your help. Now on to it ?1 The only wire i can see sparking is #5 but thats not to say others are not as well ?2 no i did not get the the wire grease but will try it #3 I talked to a few people about the coil because that is were i saw the first sparks at the coil to cap joint and it did run realy crappy and if you hit the gas the sparking increased as did the roughness of the truck i limped home at 20mph. Put on a fresh cap and rotor and wires. But every body and me said the same thing i have never seen a coil go bad in revers you know put out way to high volts. I am going to try your guys tricks and see what happens i will run a ground around the wires to see if i see any other leaks. And yes i did reset the codes and unplug the batt but i think you guy are right a spark even if you cant see it is still there thank you agin bob and i will let you know

I just got the same code pop up on my truck last night. (P0101) Funny thing is that it seemed to have more power when it happened. reset code and hasn't come back on since. What should I be looking for?

If the spark is jumping out of the plug wires. You have bad wires or they ar not on the spark plugs good or the spark plugs are not taking the spark.
Have you look at or done anything to the spark plugs?
Do you still have your old plug wires or they good enough to put back on.
Recheck the rotor and dist cap to.
If the spark from the coil is good it should go to the plugs. If there is restance any where it will jump out some place.

Reubenator ^^^
Start a new post/tread on yours please.
And some one will help you on yours.
Bobby55 has enough trouble on his let alone anybody else's problem.
Two different people on the same tread/post gets double confusing

if its coming from the coil tower it sounds like the plastic there has cracked or is just leaking. the only way to fix it would be to replace the coil.

Thats what i was thinking. I suspect the coil to have a hairline crack or something..

no its not at the coil but on the wire boot at the cap

So it's jumping from underneath the coil wire boot at the cap?

bobby55

yes from under the boot to cap. And wire #5 was the one leaking to the cc hose now i have put more wire greas in the boots and on the end of #5 and moved a ground wire around all wires and now have no leaks and it does run betterat a idel but still will not get over 1200 rpm with out bogging out and as load increases so does the roughness and starts to act like when i could see it sparking. I think it is cross arcing inside the cap??? because you can hold the gas steady and watch the motor and it looks like a little miss then its as if the fuel or some thing is cut but slowly like but it just does seem like fuel and i had the presure tested it was ok and the same code pops up and now a code for the o2 heat sensor bank 2 sensor 1 p0155 its been raining and snowing so will chang the plugs asap all so the truck seemed to warm up way fast once agin thanks for all the help bob

sounds like the cap is leaking. no way to test it except for a new one.
