I have a 1996 2.2L cavilear. Just recently I had an oil change and alignment on my car. All was well until one day last week my car started having problems excellerating while driving. soon my check engine light came on and when i had it scan got a code concerning an 02 sensor. So i went ahead and bought bosh platnium 02 sensor and replace the one after the converter. Still no fix, so i went back to autozone and bought the second 02 sensor after i got the dreaded P0172 code. After hell putting it in my car still does not act right at all. What my car does is this..while i come to a slow speed to a stop like at a stop sign or a stop light and when its time to go i press on the gas and my car idles rough and my oil light icon pops up but the car stays on and drive fine from there.
But sometimes if im just cruising at low speeds and then just tap on the gas again my car idles rough , my oil light pops up and then twice my car died. Starts right up but now my check engine light stays on with the same P0172 after i have replace both 02 sensors. after the 02 what else could cause my system to run rich or lean?? Please help. I deliever pizza for a living and my car is my pay ticket

Did you try unhooking the negative battery cable for a few minutes and hook it back up? If that didn't work, I think you'll have to take it somewhere to get that code flushed out, unless there is still a problem...
It may be a dirty injector too...

no guys at autozone know me quite well and let me use thier scanner and I erase the codes before and then it shutters and the code comes right back

Hmm... very interesting. It keeps giving you a code for an O2 sensor after you replaced them both. The only thing I can think of is one of the O2 sensor wires could be corroded, check for bad spots on the plastic sleeve. Or, it could be another emmisions device causing the problem and the ecu just thinks it's the O2 sensor and it's really something else, like the EGR valve, etc. Here's a helpful link: http://www.familycar.com/Classroom/emission.htm

well i went ahead and took the EGR valve off and sprayed carb cleaner in the holes from what i remember to do with my girlfriends saturn and we both have the same type of egr valve. After that i drove for awhile and now the check engine light went out. But my problem still exist. if im cruising to a stop at a stop light or stop sign and again when im ready to go and press on the accelerator my oil light comes on and then my car acts like it wants to die but doesnt. But on some ocassion it will. I heard it could be my oil pump? Does that seem possible and is it an easy DIY job?

My oil light would come on at low idle before my #3 rod bearing spun, look out.
