i need to finish my Fuel system before i can put my turbo on (RS49T).
so far i have just a 255Hp LPH fuel pump. what else do i need for my goal of 400-450WHP? anyone know anything about the Ebay Brand AFPR? any suggestions are Great! thanks

I would say:
Dsm link
750cc or more injectors
Greddy Profec(if you already don't have some sort of EBS)

You also might start looking into building up the internals. If you are looking for that much horsepower you are going to pushing what the stock rods, crank, pistons, etc. can handle. I'm not too sure about the Ebay AFPR, but it looks like one of those "get what you pay for" type deals.

Edit: Also look into upgrading your clutch too, if you haven't already.

I agree, definately get DSM link, bigger injectors, and AFPR. I'd just take it and get a good AFPR. I think slowboy has a aeromotive afpr for like $140, I bet those eBay ones are POS.

for the pump your going to need one of these......
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b114/Jake2988/AFPRsmall.jpg
if your runing a big turbo you need your fuel trims to be exact, there is no repalcement for the aeromotive unit. i love it.
and some bigger injectors.....

thoes are my 880s but if you are runing a SAFC the biggest you can go are 680s....get dsm link or EMS if you want to run bigger ones.

No. Stock internals will be fine. Especially the crank. When was the last time someone needed to upgrade that?

And the aeromotive is definately a proven unit, get one. There is a bolt-on fpr from Weapon R too, but i havent heard anything about their new version yet.

350-400 might be alright to drive safely but when you get into the max output of the engine 400-450 range it's necissary to start looking to upgrade. Yeah, you can hold that on the stock stuff but for how long.

"No. Stock internals will be fine. Especially the crank. When was the last time someone needed to upgrade that?"

Try and think of the number of people around with 400-450 hrspwr eclipses versus 300-350. It's uncommon to upgrade because most people reach their modding goal around the numbers I just named and then there's a few that keep going to reach higher numbers, where a new crank, connecting rods, etc. are necissary. Please do your research next time before trying to contradict what I say. :headshake

While many people upgrade their internals any way, 400-450 is still doable on the stock shortblock.

So what if its doable, its not the safest or most reliable. Yeah 500 hp has been sustained on stock internals, but you break shit when you start to push it. I agree with endlessheart666, if you want that much HP and you want it to be reliable, do the build. Personally wouldnt push it past ~375.

You just proved me right bro, 3/4 of those cars were under 400 hrspwr and the 5 or so that were above 400 had upgraded internals. And then the second site you provided said up to 400 horsepower, we are talking about over 400. Please stop posting :nono:

ok... so i dont need to upgrade anything else right now? just the AFPR and Injectors? what about the fuel Rail....and the Lines? i dont want to push to much pressure through the stock Fuel lines and cause a leak... is that possible? i've got DSMlink in the bag already... so 880's are a good size for my power goal? i want it to max out at 450WHP... i've got a duel stage boost controler and will probably be chilling around 350-375 WHP every day...

Dont forget the fuel pump. I'd go 255, that way if you get a bigger turbo you wont be stuck on a 190.

How about taking a look at his sig and seeing that it says at least 400whp... If I'm not mistaken, that is not running 10's... Oh, and you need to learn your place too. You've got no right coming in here and going off like a senseless 2 year old. :nono: That last post about not running internals on 580whp (wherever that number came from) was a little off. There have been people who ran 10's on stock internals (I took the time to search for it before opening my mouth) and those 10's sound a little more realistic IF he were running 580whp. But once again, look at his sig and other posts. (cough)at least 400whp(cough)

you don't need the install kit BUT , for safty reasons i would buy it. when your messing with fuel do it right. the kits is the safest way to do it and also it isnt bad on the eyes either.

I buy the regulator and make all the lines myself, but I have a lot of practice. Some peoplehave a hard time making lines, so getting a preasembled kit can make sense if you dont mind spending the cash.

Just for the record, 6 bolt motors have done 600 whp on stock 100k+ mile internals, racedroughly weekly. I would run like that for long, but I would do 500 whp all day long. 7 bolts have proven pretty strong, but I would keep it under 450 whp on those small rod motors. I prefer to keep stock internals as long as posible. Blown motors alost invariably come from bad tuning or suppoing mods, not too much power. Wether you have a stock motor or a 3000 dollar built motor, running out of fuel pump capacity for example will lead to a rebuild. Ask me how I know. Several times. :D All it does is make it more expensive to fix. A built motor can provide peace of mind, but I prefer to wait until it's really necessary. That's my advice, take it or leave it.

Also, for someone running the aeromotive FPR, I always recomend you go straight to the 255 high pressure. No reason not to if you have a AFPR. And be SURE to rewire it per the vfaq.

Thats a different aeromotive reg (and therefore fittngs) than what I usually use, but it seems to be fine at a glance.

FU*K SS LINES!!!!!!! what a Pain in the ass! thanks for that Link though 97_3clipse that helps me see that i'm not retarded... i'm trying to do it right.... it's just not working...

Everyone has a hard time with the lines at first. I mentioned this in my first post IIRC. Just read some sites that have instructions (google is your friend) and keep trying, it takes a lot of patience.

mine is on the driver side shock tower, NHRA rule that it can NOT be on the fire wall. wont let you run at the track with it on the firewall.....well atleast at great lakes dragway you cant run.....

kjewer1
01-08-2006, 09:36 PM
That might be a RWD thing, since a flywheel explosion would tend to travel along the firewall. On a DSM, as long as its not on the same plane as the flywheel I can't see them failing you for having the reg on the firewall, but this is all based on my own speculation :)

Mine was mounted on the firewall, I'm pretty sure there were some pics on my site if you want to cruise through and see if you can find them. Probably on the page with the 3.5" UICP stuff.

97_3clipse
01-08-2006, 10:11 PM
yeah my friend Arnie has a 1990 TSi AWD and he had it mounted on the firewall just above the mastercylinder. we went for inspection and they bitched at him, they let him run for that day but said when he came back it had to be moved....so when the time came to mount mine i avoided all the hassle and mounted it to the shock tower.

Black99GST
01-08-2006, 10:17 PM
alright, kevin, do you happen to have an upclose shot of your FPR? you have the same gauge as me, but mine doesnt seem to fit the threads in the Regulator... infact, even the little 1/8 NPT pipe plug it came with seems to have a hard time threading in... it better not be cross threaded... i'll be pissed!

kjewer1
01-09-2006, 05:59 AM
Hmm. This (http://www.posracing.net/files/9_18_017.jpg) one appears to be the closest I have on the site. I can check my PC for any others when I get it set up again, but I don't know of any offhand. If its the Aeromotive FPR that should be a 1/8th NPT fitting, you might just want to run a tap through it to be sure the threads are aceptable. Some times too they don't tap all the way, and since its a tapered thread you dont many threads in before it gets too tight. Tapping too far would be very bad, so be careful and check the fit every 2 turns or so. ;)

97_3, that's interesting. If you guys ever find out what the reason was for their complaints let me know. I should see if the nhra rulebook says anything about it I guess.

97_3clipse

yeah i dont know ill have to ask him what the exact reason was....its kinda dumb tho....i emailed GLD asking why it couldnt be on the firewall but no responce.....
