Just replaced my alternater and I am still getting an ETR code. My mechanic said a rod was missing in the intake manifold causing the doors to stay open. He said I need a new intake manifold. I was wanting to add more HP to my car, and I've read something about Contour intakes will add more than a factory one? Anyone know if this works? If so, what year model contour will i need?
I have a 2.5l V6 auto transmission btw.

you can upgrade to the 98-00 svt upper and lower intake manifolds and throttle body. All of which are better than the stock contour/cougar. If your butterfly valve is staying open on the lower intake manifold, chances are its gunked up with carbon. Just take it off and clean it. It will save you some money.

I rod is missing which is causing it to stay open. I'm not exactly sure how it disappeared, but he rigged something up, but it still doesn't close all the way. About how much is upper, lower, and throttle bottle for a 98-00 svt?

For all of them...probably about $500-600.
