shift into rev kills engine with rev light

I'm 89 hb with ls vtec and ys1 trans pr3 cpu and if i hook up rev light switch to stock leads in engine bay and shift into rev kills engine but if i un hook it shift into rev fine but no rev lights?? :confused:

you might just need to use a relay - might pull too much power and draining the ecu

Amen to that...lol...I have the same problem with typing...and lot my friends wonder how I get A's in english at college...its cause think faster than my fingers type and turns in to garbage...why I prefer to write my assignments...but ya I never had that happen before so I would know what to tell ya...

thank anyway i just put it on a switch in the center console but i thought some else might have had this be fore cause i don't see any 4th gen with ls vtec have reverse lights?

there are many lsvtec 4th gens with reverse lights. i have a ls in my 4th gen its gonna get a vtec head soon but it will have reverse lights.

I think it has somethink to do with the pr-3 cpu wiring are you running pr-3 or pwo?

it shouldnt have anything to do with the wiring or the ecu.

reverse does work though? check the wire, maybe its shorting out someplace. does it go forward fine?

the tranny works perfect with the reverse swicth disconeted I even got a new one from acura but no change, after x-mis I will go back over the wiring thank for all your help happy hoildays :smile:
