I have an 2004 with a 6.0 in it. After I start the motor and it runs for a few minutes it develops a ticking noise. It does not seem to hurt the performance or the way the truck runs. If anyone has any idea's I would appreciate it. Thanks

I have a 6.0 too and it's hard for me to know which ticking or tapping or clattering you are referring to. Are you speaking of engine noise? I hope the loudest one in mine is really piston slap. It's loudest about 30 seconds after cold start then starts to go away after a couple minutes. It is never fully gone though. There is also an exhaust tick from the broken rear exhaust manifold bolt on the left bank. Another common problem. This tick gets quieter when warm.

Seems to me GM has always had a problem with valve train ticking on cold start up. They tryed to blame it on oil filters with out anti-drainback valves. So they revised their oil filters, and blamed people for putting non-delco filters on as a cause for the ticking.
It could be a lot of things though take to the dealer or a shop and have them listen to it.
