I just got my used 2005 Malibu Maxx last week. Had 12,200 miles. So far everything is just fabulous. It's such a step up from my 1997 Saturn SW1. Amazing to have a car that actually MOVES when you give it some gas!
I have 23,000 miles of warranty left on it. Should take me about a year and a half to use up. It's just a wonderful car in every way!
But - I'm worried about not having a locked gas cap. My Saturn required a latch to be opened from inside to access the gas cap. I suppose someone serious could have just taken a car jack to it, but now I just feel too vulnerable. Can one buy a locking gas cap for a Malibu Maxx? Gas prices are just too high to not protect my fuel! Don't want anyone siphoning it out when I'm not looking. :uhoh:

ONLY buy a locking cap from the dealer and have them install it. If one exists. Check with your dealer's Parts Dept. Maxxes have had troubles with gas cap sealing (mine had another related issue). I used to replace the gas cap on my GM vehicles with a locking one, but stopped with my '98 Malibu (and now the '04 Maxx) because the cap is "permanently" attached to the vehicle these days.
