'99 3.8 misfire

seems like a common problem but what are some solutions to it.. am having the same symptoms as everyone else.. car misfires (not all the time very on and off), loss of power... car is a 99 with a 3.8 and have changed plug and coil.. get error PO301.. misfire in #1 cylinder.. anything else it could be?? or can someone help me out.. thing that is throwin me is the on and off of the problem.. and only sometimes does the "check engine" light come on

When you took the plugs out what they look like were they black or white. Also you didn't say that you changed the wires.

havent changed the wires yet.. plan on doing that tomorrow.. but im trying to think ahead that if the wires arent the problem what else it may be.. plugs looked good.. were a little white i believe defanitly didnt have any carbon on them

Im not 100% sure but could be a fuel injector.

Id try the wires before saying anything else. You dont want to get into something if you dont have to.

Yeah. . . I'd check the wires first too. My brother-in-law's 98 Grand Prix with the 3800 Series II had the same problem before too. We just changed the plugs, wires, air cleaner, and ran some fuel injector cleaner through it, and it ran fine. I hear that the best wires to go with are the GM factory wires, and I have also heard that the NGK Spark Plugs increase performance, but I don't think that will mean anything to you if you only want to get your car running smoothly again. I hope everything works out for you!
