hello, i just bought a 96 cav and im working on painting the interior (plastic air vents etc.) any tips?

Sand the parts, prime, and paint. For the vents you should be able to disasemble the angling fins from the grill. I did a really nice two tone look by painting the grill chrome and the fins anodized metalic blue. If you do anything that has textured grain finish, then it turns out better if you sand the parts with really rough sandpaper and put a layer of bondo on it. I did that on my door panels, and it looks so smooth.

For the plastics, I'd recommend Krylon paints for plastics. The trick to using this stuff is a really clean surface, and be very careful with excess application. Watch the directional ability of the vents isn't messed up.

I used Krylon on the vents and spray on dye for the vinyl...
