All,

I have an 89 Blazer I plugged in an I-pod in to the cigarette light and when I did that every thing was working fine but then I went to pull out the I-pod from it the radio turned off and the cigarette lighter wont work and the rear hatch button wont work. They are all in the same area I have torn the dash apart looking for any melted wires and can’t find any. I have checked all the fuse over and over again with no luck I. Any one has any other ideas please let me know. Could it just be a blown ground wire or something like this.

There is a simple way to narrow this down. First how do you check fuses? A visual inspection of a fuse is not a good way to check it. Sometimes a fuse will look just fine when it is in fact blown. The Fastest and most accurate way to check a fuse is a 12 volt test light, if you do not have one they only cost about 4 dollars at walmart. If your fuses are good you can see if you have 12 volts to your cigarette lighter, if you have 12 volts to your cigarette lighter then you probably have a bad ground

I will give this a try. If I dont find any bad fuses, you said to check the ground would that be the Cig or the raido ground?
