Sounds like it's time for a clutch assembly.

That is kinda confusing
Put it in your high gear and at about 35-40 mph and give her the gas.
If it does not slip your clutch is holding.
A clutch has to be let out all of the way for it to hold.

if i try to let it out normally it slips and wont hold. if i pump the clutch it sounds like theres air in the line would that cause the problem?

OK here is one thing I found I had a problem with on an old ranger I had, I live in the country so I have litle critters looking for new homes all the time, (ie Tailpipes top of motor and any hole they can find) Well anyway HTey chewed the rubber grommet out of the trany I think its an inspectioin cover of dome sort. But they Had made a nest in there when I sent to start the thing It spun all the crap they had put in there into the clutch giveing the same problem that your having. I dont know if this is your case but something mabey to consider if the Little Critters arround your place hate you as much as mine do LOL. Lets just say me and Mr 12 gauge took our vengence out and havent seen a critter arround in about 6 months. hehe

It is still holding then.
Go easy on slipping it on take off.
Put it in the lowest gear you have get the clutch pedal up fast.
You might give the girfriend some driving lessons or you you be putting a clutch in it for sure.
