What is it doing when you crank it? Is it turning over or just clicking?
A little more info is needed.

Try running some fuel treatment through there. You could have clogged injectors or lines. Check your fuel pump and make sure it's good.

how could i go about checking the fuel pump? and if it was out wouldnt the ether have made it at least try to start? could it possibly be a timing problem? i pulled the timing dust cover, but im sure exactly where the timing notchs are suppost to be lined up

Pick up a hanes or chiltons manual I think it has a procedure for checking the fuel pump on there.
I don't think it would be a timing problem, especially if it's not starting at all. Sounds like fuel to me.

Because it takes fuel to sustain and engine and run it. It's just like a drop of fuel in the engine where as it needs a constant supply to run.

what could that grinding noise be when u turn the key on? is there some kind of a fuel pump under the hood or a relay or something that pressurizes the fuel system?

I don't know about a grinding noise. Could be the starter.

no, its not the starter. its not when u crank the car. its when u first turn the key to on, like when the fuel pump should be running.

i had the same issue, with my 1992 gs with a 2.0 try useing and voltameter and getting codes, mine ended up being my ECU..
