4 x 4 fuse?

In my fuse box, there is no fuse in the 4 x 4 slot.
Autozone told me I dont need it, since the Bravada is all wheel drive. Is that right or not?

In the Bravada, the fuse is labelled ATC (automatic transfer case). Should be in the fuse compartment under the hood. This is true for 98 through 2001, not sure about 2002 and newer or 97 and previous.

Zach, we don't have an electronic AWD on our '97 Bravada's. They have a mechanical device called a viscous clutch which allows constant engagement of the front differential.

I have a 95 Bravada
Is there any way to disengage the front differential and run off rear wheel drive. The reason I ask is my front differential went out and I don't want to spend $600 to get it fixed if I can just run off the rear...keep in mind this is a beater work truck.
Peace
Chris

most times you can just pull the front driveshaft to turn into a rear wheel drive. if the differential is realbad you my have to remove some gears to.

Won't you have a fluid leak if you pull the driveshaft?

The front driveshaft doesn't a yoke like the rear driveshaft...it has a flange to unbolt from the driveshaft. I don't think removing the front driveshaft will work well. The gear layout of the transfer case looks like a type of planetary setup with the viscous clutch taking a hit shown in the service manual. Anybody else see this?

I dug around and found this. The second post contains the useful info.

Sounds like you're correct Chris. I don't profess to know much about the pre 1998 transfer cases, obviously as I didn't realize it was a flange and not a yoke. On that note, I don't profess to know much about the post 98 transfer cases either. I haven't had the need to pull either driveshaft on mine yet (knock on wood).
That being said, I'd check the boneyard for a front diff if you plan on keeping the truck for any length of time. Otherwise, you may end up with a bad diff and a bad transfer case.

Sooo, we try to achieve full hump but not sustain full hump although partial hump is actually less damaging.:naughty:

So why is there a spot for the 4x4 fuse?
Should I leave it empty or put a fuse in it?

Leave it empty Zach, the fusebox is a generic piece that fits all GM small SUV's. The vacuum 4x4 control on Blazers and Jimmys use it.

I had a fuse in it for a while today.......figured Id put one in.
About five hours after that, my truck died completely at the gas station. I think my starter is out- the two things arent related, are they?

Is the fuse still good? Well I'd leave it out.
If the wiring harness has the connectors that would go on a vacuum solenoid if you had a Blazer or Jimmy AND the hot wire was dead shorted and since you've now put electricity to it with your fuse, I guess you could've hurt something enough to kill the motor before the fuse popped...but I doubt it. Did you get it running again?

Pulled the fuse.....went to autozone and shelled out $140 for a starter, because it was just clicking.
Me and my buddy were getting ready to swap out the starters, and he started messing with the battery terminal. The terminal was stripped.
Then it started, so I guess that was it.Took the starter back and bought a battery. Im worried that its a bad spot in the starter though.....
It starts fine, but kind of hard.....Im hoping thats because it wasnt started for a day and a half.
