Bazooka Caravan

I have a 2000 Dodge Caravan with am/fm stereo radio with cassette player, tone control bass and/or trebble, balance right/left, front/back. My 16 year old son says it sucks. Could I add a Bazooka self amplified and get much better bass and volume, or would I need to try something else?
Thank You;

I don't like the bazooka products at all, along with many others. It depends on how much you are willing to spend...and what kind of sound you want. If it were me I would consider upgrading the reciever, then speakers, an then add maybe a simple 12 in a smalled sealed enlosure to save space ( this is just what im thinking you would like as sound). But a budget would help us recommend you something, and your really not going to get any positive feedback on bazooka products here.

Tell your son to shutup, it's your vehicle not his. If he doesn't like it, then he can keep his damn mouth shut.
If you don't let him know who's in charge, it'll ruin YOUR life, not his.

To upgrade the receiver, then speakers, and then add a simple 12 in a small sealed enclosure what would you suggest and where to get? As for price I thought I would check on several combinations and then decide which one. I don't know anything about the price of things, but I don't want something crappy, even if I have to pay more.

With your attitude I hope you don't have or ever have any children. My dad did what he could for me and I think I turned out O.K. So if I can do something for my son I will.
Thanks

dude shut the fuck up.
Well William, Check out some Pioneer, Alpine, or Panasonic lines, and see what fits you best. You wont need anything too special. What size speakers are your stock ones? for a cheap simple upgrade you can just add coaxial speakers, or a Component set which will give you the best sound but cost alot more. But find out what the sizes are

I do believe he asked the forum community, as a whole, what he should do.
I'm part of the forum community.
I stated my opinion of what he should do.
Who said I wasn't talking about car audio? If HE is happy with his Caravans stereo, then what's it matter what anyone else thinks?

I didn't ask what I should do ,I asked how to improve my audio system. My son uses it more than anyone, and if he wants it improved, I will listen to the ones who are actually trying to help, and improve it. You have made six posts to this thread and haven't contributed anything useful, just gripeing and bitching. I hope Santa comes to see you and brings something good, it might improve your outlook on life.

Weel you see there? That little bit of information always helps. Had you said that in the beginning instead of:
My 16 year old son says it sucks.
I might have been a little nicer.
Quit talking to me like I'm your 16 year old kid. I'm 21, work full time, am getting marred in March, and make more money than most parents in my area.
6 posts of showing why you shouldn't bend over backwards for your kid, when it's not his place in the first place, but since this wasn't the case and you refused to reveal that until now, the whole subject changes.
Bazooka sucks. Don't get it. If you want cheap decent sounding bass, I'd have to say a Kenwood 10" sub in a .75ft^3 sealed box with ample power. I've got two older kenwood 10's in a custom vented box with 1.1ft^3 behind each speaker with 500W rms each, and it makes you forget to breathe. But the box is pretty massive for it's small volumes.
Get a good sub, keep it underpowered, because your kid will undoubtedly crank it up to try to show it off, and you don't want that money going to waste.

Bazuka Tubes? Nah... Get one of thoes Amp, Sub, Prebuilt sealed boxes for like $200. More bass, nothing amazing, not much more expensive than most Bazuka tubes, and probably sounds better too.

here's a quickfix: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-bZgEacqZ5b8/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=51000&I=113KSCWD2
you'd be able to find a cheaper price elsewhere. also, its 100wrms, if all you're looking for is some added bass. it's not very impressive compared to most subs, but a better buy than bazooka. you're getting the sub, a d-amp, and its enclosed, so no need to buy those seperately. like manny said, no one will recomend bazooka here.

Thanks for the info. I'm considering a Kenwood sub, then an amp if needed. I won't waste money on a Bazooka. In the beginning I asked: Could I add a Bazooka to get much better bass and volume, or would I need to try something else?. You assumed I was complaining about my son, because he thought the sound wasn't the greatest. I don't have to talk like this to him. And because you are 21, making good money, and getting married don't mean anything. It's how you come across in your posts that counts online. If I need advice on raising my son I will go to a Parenting Forum.

if you dont want to buy amp seperately, or a box, buy a powered sub. they're easier and cheaper, but not as great either. in your case, i'd buy one.

Just how much does your son know about car audio?
If he knows a lot, it'll take a lot to pacify him.
How many guys on this forum are 100% happy with their setups? Almost none, because we know what a good system should sound like, so thousands go into our stereo systems, both home and car. If your son is one of us, you'll get a lot of complaining with a simple powered sub.

Check out Q-Logic. I just thought about that. They have some powered subwoofers made to fit in corners and pockets and what-not, so you keep as much cargo space as you can, but still get some decent sound.

Qlogic doesn't have any products for a caravan, unfortunately. so a normal powered sub is your best bet. JetLee is right, though, powered subs won't be satisfying if your son knows his stuff about audio. If all you want is some bass added to whatever you already have, then powered subs is a simple solution.
Also, if you want to upgrade your stock speakers, (for cheap, i'm guessing), buy a nice pair of coax. speaks for your front and leave the rear fill alone. 3ways won't be as great as component speakers, but they're a hell of a lot cheaper, and easier to install. If you want recomendations, i'd recomend Phoenix Gold Type-R coaxials. They work really well for their price. Second hand i'd recomend other well known brands like pioneer, alpine, etc.

lmao
anyway, i have a pair of Audiobahn AW10's in a 3.2cuft box ported, give them 400w or so and you'd be mroe than set. Ill let them for for $100 picked up or plus shipping.
They Are Dual 4ohm
So pick an amp up like this
https://ikesound.com/product-product_id/2292
And wire the coisl of each sub in parallel yeilding 2 2ohm loads, giving you 200wx1.
I guarontee it will outpound any number of bass tubes you could get for the same money ($163+shipping)
EDIT:
Just checked UPS estimate. with me estimating on the weight and exact dimentions of the box i would ship it in, it'll be around $40 (high end) shipped insured for 100USD to your area through UPS. through Fedex it will be less than $30. Through DHL it will be about the same as Fedex.
For Pics and Details you can E-mail me at [email protected]

Since we're all friends again (i hope)................
adding a sub alone is a bad idea. Even with chrysler's premium infinity and adding a sub to it and it won't sound good. Upgrade your head unit first and first cuz that is what will have better preamp output voltage for that amp connected to a sub or a powered sub and better sound shaping options to make the music sound better, even if the speakers aren't gettin' that much power. I recommend panasonic, pioneer or alpine. those three will have more than enough of what you need if you spend a good 200-250 bucks. i recommend the same brands for speakers as well, though you don't need much so almost anyone from them and you really can't go wrong. for subs, those audiobahns are a great deal. If i didn't need a new fuel pump i woulda pm'ed fryman already. if you are forced to go with a powered sub, the best i've heard (haven't heard many) is the infinity basslink either I or II.

if his son is 16 and like 80% of kids my age...they think alpine 2 way 6x9's powered off the head unit are pure audio bliss. basically stock drop ins are the norm. It sounds like his son just wants low end reenforcement. He probably listens to rap and his dad (sorry if im offending you, but this is what i see around my school) probably wants the bass to drown out the lyrics..lol.

as to the orignal poster, if your interested in upgrading your sound system I'd say start out with a new head unit (I.E. new radio) after that get new speakers in the front (I'd so coax speakers would probably suit you just fine, and decent ones can be had for around 100 bucks for the pair) after that you could buy a 4 channel amp, use 2 of teh channels to amp the front 2 speakers, and bridge (combine) the otehr 2 channels and drive a 10 or 12" subwoofer in a sealed box (or ported if you have the room). a subwoofer doesn't need to be heard from 3 blocks away to sound good (although some may differ on that opinion) having a 10 or 12" woofer allows the radio to play the lower end of the frequency spectrum that the smaller speakers and your car can't play (or can't play well). if you buy most of the stuff on ebay, or even in best buy or something you could get the the whole thing installed for you for under 1,000 dollars. if you want to do ti in steps, do the head unit first, then front speakers, and then later if you wish add the 4 channel amp and subwoofer. just remember when buying on ebay or On-line. stick to brand you know or ahve at least heard of (Alpine, pioneer, JBL, Polk, Infinity, etc.) don't buy brands like Pyramid, Jenson, Pile, as they are VERY bad and a waste of money, their amps dont' put out nearly the power they say (trust me I leard from experiance years ago) in car audio, you usually get what you pay for. good luck to ya!

here are some quick looks. the basslink is pretty nice. you could probably get something else for the same price but these are very easy to work with and simple to install. probably only take an hour or two.

wtf jet? this guy came in with a simple question any youre getting all wound up about it and now he is getting wound up. who cares what his reasoning is. he has a question about car audio, i thought that is the main reason people come here, to ask and answer questions. this is not aol instant messenger or yahoo. dont turn everything into an argument.

I'm not a big fdan of infinity audio. espically their powered subs. I had an infinity home theater with a powered sub, the internal amp died right after the warranty expired. (this happened when someone was house sitting for us, they thought they broke it , so they replaced it with the exact same one so we wouldn't know) a few months later the 2nd one broke. I read posts on other forums about people having problem with the baslink (same problem internal amp's dieing) sounds like the same people who make the home ones, make the car ones, I woudl avoid in my opinion. they may sound decent, but if that amp goes, the whole thing is junk, as opposed to if you by a component sub and an external amp, if the amp did go, you could just replace that. just my 2 cents

Well, I was brave enough to get a Bazooka for my Voyager, and I am surprised how much decibels and solid bass it gives. Though not a subwoofer that will be heard blocks away, but great inside my mini-van. Great sound. Look at my signature for model and specs.

My apologies for reviving an old thread. I wanted to give this thread a positive note as when I did a search for Bazooka, this was the only thread that referenced it, and wanted to just let other visitors know that its okay to use a Bazooka.
