Climate control box

Every once in a while I notice my autmoatic climate control box will flicker and show messed up lettering and turn the heat on full blast. If I hit off and back on it goes to normal. A few months ago I saw it do it with the a/c but it'd turn it self off of automatic mode and just show the temp. Anybody else have this problem or might it just be a loose wire in the back of the unit?

Usually it's the head unit itself that goes on the fritz, you can check to make sure the connections are ok, there are 2, one for the Rear Window Defroster, and the other for the ATC Power and Communication links to the BCM. If checking the connections don't work then the unit may need replaced, Not cheap when getting from a dealer ($400 +) and some wrecking yards if they have a replacement may charge quite a bit for them too unless you get lucky and find one for a real good price, also I have seen quite a few "remanufactured" units on ebay for a decent price but they will probably want the old one in exchange.
