If you have a plasma cutter and a welder, I'd say its possible. Gonna be a ton of work though... Wouldn't it be easier to transplant it into another 2g?

It would be possible to fix it, but I would suggest to get a new one.

What the hell did you hit?
I'm not sure if it would be wise to try to fix it up but if you have hope then you have all you need. GL

Why you would want to do that, is beyond me.

If your going to the work yourself it's possible. It's quite a project but if you can weld and do bodywork you could do it. I wouldn't pay more then like 2g for both cars though. It's also kind of hard to tell what needs replacing on the car and what parts are going to be useable on the donor car from a picture. The second car looks to be an RS so you're not going to be able to use any engine components from that. If you aren't familiar with body work I don't think it will be worth your time though.

will, the GST is mine, it bought it back from my insurance for a $1000, the other car is at an auction, i was gonna pay like $200 to no more than $500 for it, if that. I'v removed alot of stuff off my car, atleast to me its a lot, im a computer tech, i dont know much a bout cars, but im learning....i know a little about my gst, and i want to get the engine out!!!! thats why i took the other stuff out.. i just had that engine put in, i only put 2000 miles on it "the car lasted 4 weeks, then my brother hit the concrete barrier on the free way".
Anyways, i want to fix it!!! why? its something to do, and i would know my car better! i think its more than a 1000, i payed 5000 for it!
i think my main reason of fixing it, is that i spent so much mony on it, i dont want it to go to waist!
the guy @ the body shop i took it to to get an estimate said to pull that motor out and the cost of fixing it would be cheaper!!?
i found a plasma cutter and a welder for cheap, can i just use the welder to un-weld something??
i never did body work!, i dont know how to weld! "i know how to solder real good, part of my job". dont know how to take the engine out, but im trying to
im having a hard time getting the 2 bolts off the down pipe, the bolts that connect to the turbo exhaust piece

Sorry to hear about your car bud. It's like losing a part of the family. Sometimes you just have to let go. I bet you would be happier in a GSX though! And you could keep your car for parts.

Yeah dude, if you could weld and had done some car work I would say go for it, but (no offense or anything) it doesnt seem to me like you know what you're doing enough to do it. I would just part the car out and either save the parts or sell them and get a GSX/ TSI AWD.

yea, i never welded before, im sure i can learn!!
i want a NICE DSM, i want it AWD and Convertable!!! i figuerd this is my chance to do it!!
i wanted to do the work my self too, but i dont know how, it cant be that hard.
how much do u guys think its gonna cost to fix the fram? "i i took the engine + tranny out", and how would a body shop fix it? would they cut the peices out and put replacements or put them out?

It is that hard to cut the front of a car off and put on a new one on. This is usually only done by people with lots of experience and even then they usually won't do it because the insurance companys consider it totalled so nobody has to deal with it. I'm sure you could find someone to do it, but they are gonna charge an arm and a leg... I would take your engine and tranny and just transplant it into a Spyder. Then, I would look for a AWD dsm thats no good and take the entire driveline our of it and put it on the Spyer... I think the AF project car was a Spyder that they did an AWD conversion to. You can read up more about the parts needed and the process there.

wallak, u should get a gsx, and upgrade the internals, and run little higher boost. That should take care of the "i wont get him in the long run" problem

You dont need to upgrade the internals to run higher boost.

Yeah dude, I dont think that the drivetrain loss is that big of a deal. Sure its there, but if you walked him in the GST I'm sure you'll get him with the GSX and with the GSX you make him look like a fuckin Cavalier off the line.
