New idea? MP3 hookup in car?

Alright, I just got an MP3 player and I think it's cool as hell, but it got me thinking...

Would it be possible to some how dick with the wiring and put a hook up in the dash or something so that you can take a portable MP3 player and just plug it into your dash somewhere?

I think it's kinda like that Sirius radio or whatever it was that has the player itself and everything is made to fit it...

Probablya very different undertaking, but it would be a cool concept nonetheless.

What are your guys' thoughts/opinions on this?

Siruis and XM use the same concept as all these "universal" mp3 adaptors. Such as FM transmitters, AUX inputs or the cassetes that have an input connector. You could also use your AUX input if your audio player has it, I run my mp3 through the AUX using all gold plated high quality cables. Sounds alright, but i can hear niose when there is a quiet part in a song playing really loud.
CeNEt would be the best IMO, but there isn't much support for mp3 other than iPod.

I guess the BOSE system in my Camaro doesn't have an input then, because until just now, I'd never heard of this. :sly:

I think that with just the MP3 player into the dash would be quite a pain to do though...

Maybe it does, most head units have the AUX on the back using RCA jacks.
