Code 41

My 1988 Delta 88 idle is high and I have a code 41. Which is a Cam sensor signal was not recieved by pcm for the last 2 seconds while engine was running. I changed the senor but nothing has changed. I reset the ecm and stil a code 41 keeps reseting. What to do next please. Thanks for an excellent boeard.

Pull the cam sensor out and look to see if the magnet fell off the timing gear, you will need a mirror and someone to crank the engine to look for magnet, obviously disable the engine so no start is possible.

Replacing the magnet is kind of a nasty job. You need to remove the timing chain and gears. Another thing to check is the wiring for any bad connections.
