abs Brake light on

2001 S10 pickup 4.3L the abs light came on and now stays on after every startup. Talked to dealer and was told the problem can only be A faulty brake computer @$1000.Suggested fix was put A piece of black tape over the light if I did not want spend the $1000.
Is there any other possible problem besides the computer that would cause the ABS light to stay on?

you need to get someone to pull a code so we can tell you what you need to do. it could be anything at this point not just a faulty ebcm.

a solid light means a hard failure, the system checks detects something wrong and shuts the abs down, code needs pulled, and a faulty ebcm will not have a code

Thanks for the help! Will get back after we try to get A code pulled. First atempt @ advanced auto parts failed They only check emission codes.Hate to go to local chevy dealer$
