1994 Chevy Silverado radio problems

My 1994 chevrolet silverado's radio just quit working. The system has a tape player mounted in the dash. (just to the right and below the main radio). I still have power to the main system, the time displays correctly, the volume goes up and down and the channels change. The problem is that there is nothing coming out of the system.

I have checked the fuse listed in the owners manual and can not find anything in the manual to trouble shoot why there is no sound coming from the system.

i opened the dash and found the other parts of the radio, the wires are all attached, the radio antenna is properly seated, just no sounds.

Is there anyone who can lead me in the right direction to further trouble shoot the system. It gets awful lonely driving without tunes.

My 91 had the same problem ,everything on the radio worked but nothing on the tape deck/eq. worked, and no sound. Talked to a radio tech and apparently something in the amplifier ( above the gas pedal ) goes bad. There is a company that rebuilds them but it was going to run close to $300 with shipping and everthing. I considered just buying the amp portion ( I have seen them on ebay ) but opted just to upgrade to a cd player. Got mine from crutchfield with a free install kit. It was a breeze to install! I bought a mounting kit (double din to single din) and a harness to connect to the factory wiring harness in the dash.

Crimped 12 wires @ lunch; and then installed the radio in ~ 5 minutes!

Crutchfield also sends info on how to remove door panels to swap out speakers (After getting a new radio; you will probably want them :) and has an 800 number you can call for installation q's.
