2001 Grand Am Heat Problems

we just got alot of ice here in NC and now all of a sudden my heat and air stopped blowing. if anyone can tell me if there is and where its at a fuse for the blower motor. i looked in the fuse box and found nothing to do with AC/Heat. anyone ever had this problem and know what to do about it without having to go to the GM dealer only to be overcharged for something that is probably simple.

If the blower quit all of a sudden then chances are that the fuse has blown. Check any fuse that may say accessory, of HVAC. If you have a test light you can check the fuses with out removing them bu placing the point of the test light into the tiny openings on the end of the fuse, if you check both sides of the fuse (with key on and blower selector on) and only one side of the fuse lights the tester then you have a bad fuse. If all of the fuses check out OK then you will need to look at the wiring harness, you will have to check to mahe sure the wires that plug into the blower assembly are still plugged in, or the wires that plug into the control head may ave come loose. I doubt that the blower is bad but I guess it is possible, they will usually show signs of failure, IE irratic running. If you track down the wires to the blower motor you can check to see if you have power to the blower with a test light, unplug the harness and turn on the blower and check all of the wires in that harness plug.

Electrical issues can be a pain in the butt, to make things easier you may want to pick up a Chilton of Haynes repair manual at a parts store of major book store for about $15.00 to $20.00. It should show you where the blower connections are as well as give you some other ideas on the blower operation that will help track down your problem.

something else to add to what Hoags said, if you had alot of rainy stuff you may hav ice in the blower, ie. not working. Just my :2cents:
