i have a 94 altima gxe i got it not that long ago and the brake light and battery light never seem to shut off.. the altinator got replaced and it has a new optima battery and its holding its charge.... the e brake is all the way down but i haven had the chance to check the brake pads yet so i dont know if thats the problem.. i was thinking maybe its just a sensor or 2.. any comments or help would be great.. (the car sat for about 2 years before i came along if that helps any)

The low brake fluid level sensor will turn the brake light on. Make sure the fluid level is between the lines on the resevoir. AutoZone will test the charging system at no expense to you. Then you don't have to guess about the performance of the charging system.

Had the same thing on a Maxima. Your alternator is on it's way out. It's probably putting out the minimum volts now

The alternator thats in there is new.. i just got it.. i dont think its that.. i origanialy had to replace the one that was in there because it was over chargeing the headlights and poping them so i couldnt drive at night.. so like i said its brand new.. i guess it could be faulty but i tested the battery and all seems well its holding its charge right where its suppost to be.. if theres any way to test the akternator let me know as far as i know im not aware of any testing for that.. but im not a machanice either..

Dude, your problem is charging system related. Most likely the alternator. You'll need to find out what is 'popping' them.

Its definately the Alternator... If u got it anywhere else but Nissan ... theyre usually messed up ... have them check it ... before u replace it ... or buy it

I just wanted to let anyone with this problem know that it accutally could be a few things.. there is a fuse under the hood for the alternator that should be checked and which fixed the problem with mine temporaraly but then you should also check your ground cables.. i had to re wire all of mine.. and if you have just as bad of luck as i do your heater or A/C will only work on high.. thats cuz your bad grounds have just shorted out your resistor pack.. :licka:

so true generally if your altenator is not a nissan unit than you brought junk a very easy way to check is to start the car and use a voltmeter on the battery teminals voltage should be 13.5-15.0 volts ..
