Just wondering if anyone else ever has this problem, as it seems to only happen on this forum. when i click the link of a topic, most of the time it pops right up, but sometimes it takes up to almost a minute to come up. i have high speed internet, and havent noticed the problem anywhere other than this forum, and not all the time, it only happens occasionally, most of the time its fine, am i crazy or does it happen to anyone else?

I have 6Mb service at home, Multiple OC lines at the lab. One thing remains constant over both...
This forum is as slow as an old country hound in July. It gets there eventually, but not without a lot of panting and wheezing along the way. :P

This seems to be a very common problem on a few discussion boards I visit.
If popular, expect delays at random times.

I know a few of the regular members that don't come around much anymore because it was almost impossible for them to navigate the forums with dial-up.
I've got 1.5Mbps and some pages take over a minute to load. I use firefox and take advantage of the "tabs" feature..... while I'm reading one thread, I've got three more loading in new tabs. :)

If you guys have the patience to try to learn something new, try linux. I've got my laptop set up to dual boot XP and Linux. When running the linux OS, I don't have delays.

strange part is that for me at least, it doesnt lag often, but when it does, its freakin excessive, like 50 seconds, then after that its fine for a long time,

Same here. It gets slow when there's a lot of people online, when it gets too bad, I switch to linux.

I've run Linux for sometime and I didn't notice any difference. I agree with previous person who stated it doesn't lag often, but when it does, it is usually bad.
I'd guess it is a server load issue, and as such, I don't see how one's OS can make any difference.
There has been a few times when I've tried to post in small-moderate sized threads here, only to have to wait minutes before the post is accepted. One time, the 'Page generated in X amount of seconds' was measured to about 3 minutes. I've had that happen more than a few times.

It probably has something to do with the amount of resources that each one uses, a lot of junk gets loaded with XP. I notice an increase in speed in just about everything, when I use linux. The speed of the computer has a lot to do with the speed of the connection.

it has nothing to do with the os, its definatly on thier server, ive seen lag due to high traffic, but i dont think its the case here, due to the severness, and randomness.

I know that the problem is on their end, I was giving a possibility as to why I see an improvement, when switching OS.

This is weird, I'm using firefox, winxp and when I'm on Vancouver Island using High speed Cable I have that problem.
However when I'm in the interior I'm stuck using Dial Up and it always loads quickly.
Same computer, same everything else.
I've noticed the same thing on 1 other forum as well. I thought that it's just a glich in the service provider
