Thunderbird V8 vs 380HP Supercharged Beast....

Yes. "I finally got some money for food" I thought to myself as I was sitting at the redlight, making a right turn onto the main, two-lane road (each way) that leads to town, heading towards the local pizza joint.
Light turns green, and I make my right turn, and just happen to check my rearview mirror to see what got stopped at the red light. Hmm.. something with foglites pretty low to the ground, and another random vehicle. Probably some wanker in a BMW or something. I think nothing of it. I continue on down the road, with some Jason Aldean blasting, but then I get into a bottleneck. An '05 Mustang V6 in the right, and a newer Impala in the left. Sweet. Stupid idiots clogging traffic.
That allows for time for this mystery vehicle to catch up. I look over.. hm.. I say to my friend "Hey.. I've seen this Lightning at the drag strip before.." the first thing I notice were the triple A-Pillar gauges... then I notice the bling-bling 20" rims... then I see "LIGHTNING" on the fender.
Since were both kinda held up in traffic, me and the Lightning passenger exchange glances.. it went something like this..
Me: :naughty:
Him: :sly:
Me: :lol2:
Him: :nono:
We both kind of simutaneously slow down to let those two fudge packers ahead of us, get way ahead.. we're pacing each other at about 45..
We exchange a quick glance..
Me: :iceslolan
Him: :headshake
Then all of a sudden.. WHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR the sound of a twin screw roots type super charger at WOT... The Lightning instantly gains a car length on me, by the time I click it out out of over drive. The 1st Gen 4.6L 70mm Throttle Body opens up wide, allowing the cold night air in, to be atomized. The RPM's shoot up, and I'm thrusted into my seat. But all is lost. By the time we get to 80 I had fallen behind about 3 or 4 car lengths.. :owned:
But I just had to have more ownage. The Lightning tail gates the Impala untill he moves, and we both fly past the Mustang and Impala. Once again we pace eachother at about 50.. and exchange more looks..
Me:
Him:
Then, again, the sweet sound of the blower fills my ear, and the truck squats, and takes off like a rocketship. I click it out of O/D again, and try my best to keep up with this much more superior vehicle. This time we get up to about 90.. with me about 6 car lengths behind..
I pull up once more to the Lightning..
Me: :headshake
Him:
Its about at this time I notice my turn is comming up............

You should try keeping up with some of the old men just playing with you in trucks around here..
I know a guy that owns a speed shop that has a lightning that he drives over his supercharged late 90s mustang and he claims it's just because it's his work truck..
Shoot try picking on the "farm truck" that's prowling the streets and watch the old man laugh as he just toys with you. Pretty sure he's running low 12's high 11's in this "farm truck" (another lightning). :grinyes:
Hell if they are to much for ya pick out a seemingly stock early modle s-10 and see how you fair.
Edit: Very sorry just found the trucks best time and it was 10.5@130mph.

By that logic, anyone who supes up a civic or anything other than a pure muscle car should keep their car nice and calm for getting the groceries. All the aftermarket support would die.
And that truck can still haul, all the while outrunning most cars on the road.

I'm not hating at all just saying you should open your perspective and see that it doesn't really matter how old or what you drive, anything can be made fast or is pretty fast stock.
Personaly I would love to have a big block in an s-10 just beacuse I could light the tires up and let the smoke roll when ever I want but that's not going to happen any time in the near future.

I'm sorry ric(er), but there are a lot of TRUCKS that can haul balls... Cyclone and Typhoon for one. Lightning and the SRT trucks for two... And there are some diesel trucks that can terroize your ass at the track one minute, and haul their big gun back the next. You'd be suprised what some of these big trucks can do...

So the Lightning had an aftermarket blower? Cause you mention a twin-screw. The lighting has a Eaton M112 which is a roots blower.

The only question I have for all you racing truck owners, do you atualy use it for truck stuff? A while back, when I was still in highschool, one of our freinds had a lightning, and we were doing a class remodling project for the school, and we had to haul a bunch of mulch, so I asked my buddy with the Lightning if we could throw it in the back of his truck, and he said no. Its been the same with other fast truck owners I know. They never want to use it to haul shit, and Im like, well, if you aren't gonna use the bed, get a damned car.

I don't know man, mulch is pretty heavy, if I had a regular F150 I wouldn't want to haul a giant pile of mulch either. With that kind of thing its easy to over load your truck. Saying that not hauling things makes the fast truck pointless is really a stretch. I don't let people sit in the back seat of the mustang, I don't think it makes the car a waste. People who don't take their subarus on dirt trails aren't driving a useless car. I am sure your friend did use the bed for other tasks, it really isn't a work oriented vehical though.

I don't haul like mulch or rocks or anything like that, but I have hauled furniture and boxes, stuff like that. It's also nice, because I can put all four of my racing wheels, my jack, tools, and a cooler in the back :iceslolan So, it's definitely not a "work" truck, but I use the bed on a regular basis. I've got a bedrug and a fiberglass tonneau cover, so it's like a really big trunk

Nope, they are 2 different superchargers, but they do look similar. A twin-screw is alot more effiecient and blows cooler air.
