Just wondering how many Viper owners play over here? I just found this site and have noticed that there doesn't seem to be any actual Viper owners.

Welcome!

I know there have been some Viper owners here in the past...
Maybe you can bring some owners on here?? :D

I know that the VCA forum is dying a slow death (as well as the Supra Forums and Modern Muscle Car). I'll hang out here for a while before I bring my Viper friends over.

Thanks for the welcome.

Why are they all dying?

Mostly because of politics. The administrators are letting the vendors and tuners takeover the site. People like Hennessey and Sean Roe are getting criticized for bad business pratices, fraud, and defective products and the admin's are sensoring the user community. Guys like Hennessey are posting under multiple tag names (because of AOL) andretaliating against people who speak the truth about their services and business practices. Tuners and vendors also are made moderators to various sections, which is like letting the fox guard the hen house. It's too bad that the site owners let this happen to a perfectly good site.

Check out the threads on Hennessey and posted by GTSR45 (Hennessey's other tag name). If you want to know the truth about tuners, do your homework. Many of them have quite a few skeleotns in their closets (especially in the viper community). By the way, stop reading the garbage in magazines, because they always bend the truth in dramatic fashion. After more than a year of magazine marketing, Hennessey has not sold a single TT car. I personally would never recommend that anyone buy Hennessey (unless you live in Houston). He's not the only Viper tuner having problems with pissed off customers.

One last magazine note, have you noticed how much they are building up the C5 and Z06 Corvettes, but have never tested it against a '00 or later Viper with ABS? In fact which magazine has ever tested a '00/'01 or '02 Viper...? That's right NONE, because the magazine salaries (via advertising money) are paid by the maufacturers like GM, Ford, BMW, Porsche, Toyota/Lexus and Honda. Dodge is not part of that inner circle.

Wow, thanks for the info..

I know a lot of the mags are corrupt and are the Manufacturers' puppets..

But I haven't heard about Hennessey doing that before, I was thinking they were good enough and popular without having to lie and cheat people....

Yes it is unfortunate that Hennessey has to do this, because I have heard good things about his products (when he actually delivers).

So far he has not learned from it. I did look for the tuner problems posts and the admins have delted the entire thread (as well as many by GTSR45...thanks to the VCA Big Brother).

What do they call that the GT2 right? That is a sweet looking Viper. By chance do you have any pictures of the inside?

As for Hennessey, why pay for a moded up Viper when you can do it yourself? I mean its more fun fixing your car up on your own. I don't see myself ever taking a vehicle to someone else and tell them to turn it into a 9 seconds car. Those body styling kits they put on the Venoms do look sweet though thats about the only thing I would buy from him, if I had a Viper that is.

Wrong, the track car was called the GTS-R. This was a special edition that commemorated the Le mans win officially called the GT2. It went for $100k (USD), and was essentially an ACR with a paint job, dive plane in front and the non-adjustable banana spoier on the rear (oh and let's not forget the placque inside).

All of the speculators that bought these lost their shorts.

When you look up that car on the internet it says Dodge Viper GT2 Limited Edition or something even though the stickers(?) on the outside say GTS R. Really, I don't see the big deal in calling the car either name. Afterall, it does say GTS R on the outside. It's not like your the one who put the stickers on they came from the factory.

GT2, GTS R, who cares, GTS R sounds baddass anyways.

Take some inside pics please!!!!!!!! I'd really like to see the difference on the inside from any other GTS

we'll since i live in southern texas...i put it back cuz it get hotter then h3ll down here (its the humidity that makes it so bad) i mean hell it has the vents for it so y not use them...but yea it's made for racing. i used to race one that wasn't mine so i went out and got it but before i could race it a close friend of mine was doin some practice laps on a local track and lost control and slammed into a wall and died so i never got back into racing, but i still have my racing lisence incase i do

You also might want to come to this meet this coming Saturday in Torrance. My buddy is having a huge car meet off of Western Ave. and 190th across from Toyota's HQ. Not many Viper owners over here. If you are looking for conversation, this place can be fun, but don't expect much in the way of qualified info. Welcome aboard. I check this place about once a week. It gets tiring when an 14 year old claims to know about Vipers, than a Viper owner...

I wasn't referring to any one person in particular. In general, it's hard to explain to a person who doesn't drive (or who just recently got their license), what the subtleties of a car's handling and performance.

If someone wants to exchange owner to owner experiences, you go to the Viper Club of America site. I come here to share my personal experences with younger enthusiasts (like you v10) and to add some reality to the magazine propaganda.

Just a little input from the peanut gallery. If I were you I wouldn't focus on finding a career that makes you the most money. Find something that you are passionate about and go after it. Learn to think outside of the box and be an innovator and leader.

If you follow your passion and steer on a straight course and not compromise your values and faith, then you will go a long way and live long. Life is about happiness and quality of life. I have been blessed by God to have made a good living at what I do, but the most important gift that the Lord has given me is my health, my family and my friends. Cars are only baggage that too many people fixate on and worship. I have many friends that are very wealthy and are incredibly UNHAPPY. These people also buy cars for status and to make up for their shortcomings... I affectionately call them car bigots and dyno jockeys. They have no idea how to drive their cars and love talking about numbers... but rarely commit the time (or energy) to learn how to drive their cars.

Don't blow it and repeat the mistakes that your parents made. I ahve made lots of money for the last 24 years in the hi-tech business, but happiness didn't come through money. It came through surviving adversity (and finding out who your friend were in tough times).

I paid cash for my Viper and only have one payment (which is my mortgage). I have no credit cards anddon't do anything impulsively. I plan my future very carefully and remember to always help other and being generous with my heart.

My passion is cars, but my love goes to my family and friends. Wealth is measured not by how much you acquire and make over your lifetime... it is about how generous you are and how much that you give of yourself.

Sorry for the sermon, but I hope that you can learn these lessons before it's too late. Best of luck in your studies and career path.
