Sure, I know that since viruses aren't technically alive that antibiotics aren't effective treatment, but gosh, give me something!!!!!

I've had a fever for the past 3 nights that goes between 99F and 103F (39.44C) and so I went to the doctor. He gave me an antihistimine/decongestant for my seasonal allergies and sent me out the door. The whole time he acted like high grade fevers aren't worth his time. He kept saying that my dry cough, half swolen shut eyes, sinus pressure and shortness of breath weren't really other symptoms so he couldn't do anything.

Dude, if you read this.... I hate you. I feel like ass every night. And just because I don't have a fever during the day doesn't mean I'm faking it. I'd rather have worked today instead of sitting on my ass coughing and feeling like I can't breathe!!!!!!!

That's too bad..I hate nightime sickness. Nyquil, that's all I can tell you. The pill kind, not the liquid, because being sick is better than trying to drink that crap. Hope you feel better soon.

You have my sympathies...A doctor who can't diagnose can be like a bad mechanic........
damned expensive and more harm than good.On the other hand, get a good one and they are worth every cent.:) :) :)

Hope you are feeling better soon, shame he can't be more help to you but at least it's only your throat he's poking around in:D

I have a diff problem, my doc is good at finding out whats wrong, but hes sadistic as hell! When my hand was sliced up pretty good, when he was taking off the stitches, he found it amusing he could open and close the wound, with me screaming in pain and trying to deck him :bloated:

AND YOU DIDN'T DECK THAT @SSHOLE!?!?!?

I would have kicked the focker in the nuts and told him to go eat some liver w/farva beans!!!!!! I hate stupid people. Honest to Pete!!!

Sure, it's weird. I feel better during the day. Normal temp, a little bit less coughing, but my eyes are still swollen and it still feels like I can't breathe. The stupid antihistimine/decong. seems to have helped a tiny bit, but considering I"ve taken 3 pills already and only feel marginally better I'm not a happy camper. Not to mention that since I'm always the goofy person w/cold hands and feet I hate feeling too warm. So now I go between freezing under 3 blankets, sweatpants, a long sleeved t-shirt and a fleece jacket and tearing everything off. It's enough to drive someone mad. :( Can anyone please tell me what the outside world looks like for more than an hour at a time??? Even when I got out of the house for 3 hours I slept for atleast one of the 3.

So at 7am this morning I start crying b/c it hurts too much to even swallow water. My dad drove me to the Emergency Room to find out what is going on.... Doc looks over my paperwork, looks at how sick I appear and tells me I may have mono, but the test requires bloodwork so he often doesn't bother with it. That, and mono is a virus so you can only treat symptoms anyway. Then he offers a strep test, which I decline as well b/c he said he'd probably be treating me with the same stuff anyway. So he kindly prescribes me liquid Amoxicilin and a cough suppressant to help treat symptoms and kill any bacterial complications.

But this only leads me to my next point: Why is it that 1)Liquid medicine still tastes horrible after all these technological developments and 2)Even when you can taste nothing else you can still tell how incredibly nasty the medicine tastes??????????

It's supposed to taste horrible. That way ,as soon as you have that foul taste out of your mouth, you feel better already. And if it tasted good, you'd probably get hooked on it,and live a short life of crime and depravity before dying quietly(without coughing)in a dumpster behind Walmart.

Please Tangie, don't let it happen ...get well soon ,and make sure you get that drawing round to your friend.....;)
