Tiburon 2.7 V6 rev limiter

Hello everybody
I have searched the forum, but havent found the answer, so the question would be: My car doesnt run more than 5000 - 5200 RPM, at those RPM it sounds like a rev limiter starts to work, but the redline starts at 6500 RPM! Whats my cars problem? Is it rev limiter? If so - why it starts to work so early? Any salvations?

I bought this car used (car had this problem when i bought it), so i dont know if there were any mods (dont think so), by my self - i havent done any mods yet. This car had an accident before i bought it (if that matters). It is 6 spd manual.

hmmm, how can i verify this?
Car gathers those 5.2k RPM very nicely and easily, and it should go further, but it just stops picking up RPMs. On the neutral gear, if you press and hold the throttle, its just the same - goes to ~5.2k RPM, and then it sounds (and seems too) like a rev limiter or fuel cut off starts to work - it drops couple hundreds RPMs, and gathers them again (doing it very quickly - like 2-3 times per second!)

you could just be able to take it to a shop and they could find out for you or you could go to the dealershilp if its still under waranty

Do you fix it? Because i have the same problem an i don't know what is it.

crank position sensor is fouled, take it off and clean it up. Put it back and see if it revs freely to 6,500.
