Check what RSfromHELL said.....
Is this even possible with the upgrades posted?
i wouldent count your chickens before they hatch.
im a proud owner of a 89 RS camaro with a 2.8 MPFI V6.
im running 270 HP right now and i dont have a lot done to it.
chances are the guy isent bullshitting. im running stock intake with K&N air filters, polished heads, dual exhaust, 2500 stall torque converter, rebuilt 700R4 tranny with Borg Warner clutches, and reybestos bands, and a performance chip.
its a mean camaro for pretty much being stock.
i can out run most 305's and a few 350's.
2.8 are great building blocks. and for being a V6 in a bigger car its one fast little shit. and because the motor sit's back closer to the fire wall than a 305 or 350, so it has way better handling. but any way im looking to supercharge mine and im gonna give it hell cuz i have a few ideas and i work at a machine shop so i can make what ever i need for it.
i have a few ideas and i think a few of them just might work if i can do it right.
well im outta here

I think the guy is closer to 180 HP than he is to 270.

i doubt its even close to 180 to be honest...my cousin had an 89 2.8l and it was the weakest thing i had ever drove

Ok, when does a chip, polished factory heads, exhaust, and filter add over what, 150 hp? He dosen't even list a cam for god's sake. :bs:

Those mods, maybe, MAYBE, give him 15 hp at the wheels, but I doubt it. No porting, headers, cam, etc...to get close to 100 hp/liter out of the pushrod 2.8l, he would need high flow heads and a pretty radical cam I think...

BS..but 270 is very possible....i'd rather dance with the v8 though

I call BS on this.
stock intake with K&N air filters, polished heads, dual exhaust, 2500 stall torque converter, rebuilt 700R4 tranny with Borg Warner clutches, and reybestos bands, and a performance chip.
the verter and rebuilt trans really dont do much in terms of HP... the trans may free up a little drivetrain loss but thats it.
So this guy has filters on the stock intake, heads that are polished not even ported (sounds like BS in itself, why would you do that), exhaust and a chip. no way in hell thats 270 hp. Even with a 3.8 I highly doubt that would add 70 HP, so with a 2.8.... not happening

The 2.8 is that bad? I mean, i know it crappola from the factory, but can it be mean if turbo'd? Does it even have any after market?

anything turbo'd has the possibility of being fast...but there isnt a whole lot of aftermarket products for the 2.8l and factory it came with im almost certain 130 hp....considering hp to weight ratio its a not very good engine

Yeah you can turbo it.. gotta be custom but its possible. If he had turbo and a nice one then I wouldnt call BS on that 270 HP.

but he doesnt.
2.8 is OK in aftermarket in that its the same block as the 3.1 nd 3.4... but they have basically nothing
