Blower motor for ventilation dying?

I'm fairly certain the blower motor for my 1990 Cutlass Ciera is dying. It only works intermittently, and when doing so makes quite a bit of squeaking and growling, and sounds like it would really rather not be spinning.
The question, then, is how much would something like that cost to get fixed? Is it something any old repair shop could do, or would it need to go to the dealer?
Also, is it something one could do without too much experience? I've fiddled with a few things here and there, and if it just involves screws and the like, it might be worth a shot...anyone know if it's easy or not?
