Ok, I just went out to look for another relay to switch to check it.. all I can find is the two side by side and I know one is for the fuel pump, what is the other one for? I was told there were like 3 or 4 under the hood.

Your fuel pump relay is, according to autozone: FRONT SEATING AREA, DRIVER SIDE, DRIVER SIDE OF
STEERING COLUMN, BEHIND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, MOUNTED
IN CONVENIENCE CENTER

Yeah, under the hood tho, technically. Anyhow, how do you test the two black boxes to see if they are bad? We have been testing wires from them to the sending unit, there are 2 ground wires and 2 other wires, one purple, one fat grey. But how to test the boxes? I just am about to give up! Maybe plug them back in and just bang on the underside of gas tank to see if I can make the pump kick on.

the 87 and 30 terminals should be the switch side of the relay, if youre getting power on both then the thing is working. if not check to see if youre getting power on the other two as well. if you are and the relay isnt closing the switch then it is bad.
