boost creep question

Hey guys, I set my boost at 11 pounds for winter, but once my RPMS hit the 4500 mark it starts to climb, all they way up to 18 at 6500. Is this boost creep? I've never had this problem before, even on this exact setup running 18 lbs this summer it never creeped past 18. I searched for an answer and couldn't find one, so if anyone could give me any tips that would be appreciated. Is it possible that my wastegate might be sticking and not allowing the flapper to extend the full way, or is it just time to pick up a 34mm flapper? Why all the sudden too?

Im no turbo guy...but, I think that boost creep has something to do with a wastegate. The purpose of the wastegate is to limit the revolutions of the turbine, so that boost creep does not occur. But do not take my word on that, that is my :2cents:

depends did u upgrade ur turbo...? if so most boost creep is cuase by the exhuast not being able to get rid of the exhuast gases fast enough....solutions port the turbo...port the o2 housing....if all eles fails buy an external waste gate....so say a o2 dump helps also
hope it helps

I think on posracing.net kevin had to port the wastegate and that was the only thing that worked.

There is a good bit of info on my site, and I know I posted lengthy descriptions here and at rackingknowledge. Boost will creep to a set value on every WG setup. If it's 18 psi like in this case, you won't "see" the creep until you try to set the boost below that point ;) That's why you are seeing it now. I was able to get it down with some WG/O2 porting. I don't recomend larger flappers, since they reduce the maximum boost you can run on that turbo. Externals are the way to go, but it's hardly cost effective for those on a budget. Well worth the investment if it's an option though! I should have went external much earlier than I did. Lost a couple years to fighting shyte internals...
What you are seeing is nothing unusual, to recap. In fact I had creep to the same exact point with a 2.5" exuahst and highflow cat, with it going to 22 psi on a test pipe. It was a 14b in my case, but they both have the same turbine/WG/Actuator.

You're gonna have to port the turbo/wastegate entrance and the 02housing.
