i was comming back from the auto store when i spotted a black 03 cobra at a light behind me. he then catches up and pulls up beside me. so at the next red light we take off......... i was surprised how well my trans am with just a lid and exhaust kept up. Im pretty sure the guy was racing to. i obviously lost the race but in shock how an ls1 keeps up to the 400+ rwhp cobra???????????

How fast did you get going??
Those Cobras are mean, but stock for stock an LS1 car isn't going to get beat too badly. Although it will get beat.
Watch them up top as well.

from a dead start. I jumped out earlier because i thought the light was gonna turn green so i kinda had the advantage. but man after that he took off like a rocket. The guy was smoking so he had the wondows down and i could hear the supercharger whiiiiiiine. again i lost but at least it wasnt to a ricer.

I'm not surprised you kept up IF he was stock. The best I have ever heard of one running stock is 12.4 but that is under ideal conditions and with an expert driver. You would be surprised how many "average Joe's" only run low 13's in them. With an average driver in the cobra, a lid and catback LS1 can give them a good run for thier money in the 1/4 mile. But the longer the race goes the more they will pull on us. And if they have a great driver then forget it.
Good job keeping it close. Now it's time for some LT headers and a cam. Then you can show em what's up

Yup. V8
LT1 is the same, but it is a generation II.
But the LS1 and the LT1 are two very different motors.

yeah. 98 was the first year for the LS1 in the GM cars. 98-02 the cars came with an ls1. im not sure what year was the first year for the LT1 but it obviously ended in 97.
Mr. Luos

Actually, the LS1 was released in 1997.
1997 Corvette C5 had the LS1 when introduced.
