3rdgens... got any help?

So I've got a 3rd gen TA, and basically thats all I've gotta say, and you know I need help. Anyway, it's an 85, first car I've bought, and it moves, anyway. It's running witha chevy350 bored to a 383, 700cfm carb set-up, and its been worked on a bit, so the car has about 400hp, thats when I bought it. About 3k on the engine, and 120k on the body, the car had some weight redux done to it, and its pretty bare. Also has positraction... so I'm sitting alright when it comes to moving ability. What sucks is, its a 3rdgen. So it makes noise, has issues with handling and the rigidity, the body flexes, and you can feel it, and all sorts of other little isms that will drive a person mad. Also I'm thinking about literally tearing out the whole interior and replacing it, with black parts, and leather seating, and a better dash... but I sure could use some help with the noise/handling/flex and anything else anyones got. Thanks for reading at the least.

hmm, i dunno my 91 doesn't really make any weird noises other then the engine bay. As far as flex you can stiffen it up with suspention parts like strut tower braces and what not.

I'm lookin into braces right now, yea. Also, Would subframe connectors help with the body flex? thats my main problem I think, easy to tell on uneven ramps and stuff.

yes, get subframe connectors. great stuff, and get a strut tower brace or a wonder bar, and better control arms, and polyuranhane bushings for like everything and some lowering springs, and wrap interior screws with one coat of electrical tape. and screw overlaps together. (remember reading that in the camaro forum) and if you pull the carpet out someone said you can get icesheild from roofing places for cheap and its the same as that dynamat stuff to soundproof cars. oh and turn the music up, helps with the squeaks and annoying noises....

Note, thanks, thats some direction, most of the stuff I figured, but the ice sheild I know EXACTLY what that is, and I'm pretty sure that would work, and since im replacing the carpet anyway.. thanks man! Btw, my engines bigger..he he he.. :-)
Go carb or go home :-p really, I love that, beautifull btw.

Some companies like Hotchkis Performance sell sway bars that are beefed up you may want to look into as well. Thicker = good for body roll. Also, if you don't like the interior and want to get real crazy, the 4th gen. interior will mount, although im sure with some modification, insode the 3rd gen. I have seen a 3rd gen with the main dash assembly and center console from a 4th gen as well as the door panels and it looked alright.

yeah, putting a th gen interior in a 3rd is bad ass. ive seen many pics and hav considered it, dont have the money thought, i need to save. but its sweet just cause its all new and nice and modern and its still in a 3rd gen which are kick ass.

if 4th gen fits, that means I should be able to fit a ws6 interior? because, that would be wicked...

Some modifications may be required in the mounting, but I don't see why not...

personally, i like the retro look of the 80's. not to mention the sound..the mean roar of the TPI :D as for the body roll, i dont get much of that.. all i know is its a LOT better then the V6 springs (the WS6)

For my '84 T/A-

a good anti sway bar in front eliminates most the body roll. I have a stock
ws-6 sway bar in back and this handles every bit as good as my 4th gen ever did. I do have eibach springs, but I found the anti sway bar made the biggest difference.

I'd post pics of it but I don't have permission to post attachments. send me an email and I can email pics if anyone wants.

yea i like the 3rd gen look better myself. the only thing i would want to change in are 4th gen seats because they are lighter. other then that i wouldn't touch the interior other then a decent deck to listen to music.

If you decide to rip out the interior, look closely at the body of the car on the inside. Look for cracks where the pillars meet the rest of the car. If you are really getting noticable flex, there might be a hidden problem with the car. If you have t-tops be careful adding braces etc., if the car is flexed and you stiffen it up you might run into issues with the roof panels fitting and leaking. One of my friends has an 85 iroc that they raped, you can flex the car hard enough to pop the rear hatch open, and he has strut tower braces and subframe connectors.

I'm changing up the interior just cause my dash is trash, and I don't like the sorta plasticy look, of the whole interior. Plus its all Tan, and I'm gonna make it all black, basically I'm going to take out the seats and carpet first, fix any problems there, put down some soundproofer stuff, then carpet, then do the dash, put new dash in and then the seats back in.
