I finally connected my new hu to my car and realized that 3 of the speakers were blown, so i decided to just get all new speakers. I was just wondering wat are some good speakers that are not to expensive,but are very loud and good quality. I'm replacing the tweeters, fornt door and back sidepanel speakers. Thnks.

Well....give us an estimate for what is not too $$. Kicker makes the best component system out there (at www.onlinecarstereo.com) they are for sale for about 550, an awsome deal considering they retail for over 1100. My advise it to go with a component system in the front, and mid-bass drivers in the rear. Kicker midbass drivers are not very $$ and sound fantastic (get the SS series). Also, Infinity Perfect components are supposed to be good, and are not nearly as $$ as the kicker SS components. Polk MOMO i think are ok, and there are a few others. But my advise is just to make sure you go with a component front, and midbass rear. Any combination of that will sound much better. Also, they will only be as loud as the amp that is powering them, so if you are planning on matching a powerful subwoofer, make sure you have enough amp and speaker to do that. Im running Kicker all around, and I cant imagine a better combination.

I have MOMO's in my car and they sound great. The infinty speakers are also very good as well, also check out http://www.ikesound.com. They have some pretty sweet deals there too.

Don't waste your money on sony. We need to know what type of money are you looking to spend before recommending a brand.

You have probably heard people talking about 2 way, 3 way and whatnot speakers. Component speakers are 1 way speakers. They only have 1 speaker in the assembly (ie. they dont have a tweeter in the middle of the woofer). Component systems that include 2 midrange and 2 tweeters are just that. They have 2 tweeters that are completely seperate from the 2 midrage drivers. They also usually (should, and if they dont you need to get some) include crossovers to separate the tweeter frequencies from the mid freequencies, from the bass freequencies. What component systems allow you to do is get much clearer sound qualities from each individual speaker...it wont be mudded up by running a tweeter and a midrage driver in the same speaker. The midrange sounds much more clear, and they are usually able to handle more power. From what i have read, 6x9 speakers are terrbile accusticaly. You can make 8" round midbass drivers fit the rear pannels with little modification, and they sound a lot better than 6x9. Plus, high frequencies travel in straight lines, so the trebel that comes out of the rear speakers doesnt really ever get to you...it just goes into the seats. The Kicker SS series component speakers have crazy loud tweeters, and the crossovers have tweeter boosts to make them even louder....they also look sick as shit. However, like i said, any component system will sound better than a 2way system. If you dont feel like doing anything special in the rear, at least make sure you invest some money in your front speakers because it will make a huge difference. Get a good 4 ch. amp if you want to make it work right.

so then could i put the tweeters that come with the component system into the spot where the tweeters are in the eclipse?
Also, i am looking at the polk audio and infinity components because i do not want to pay 500 dollars.

Yes you can put the tweets in the stock location...you just have to cut out the plastic mesh part. Its real easy...and with a little time they look stock.

is it true that on the eclipse rs models if there is a center speaker that its the infinity special edition sound system and u have to change all your wiring? also if that is the case do i have to do anything special when installing a new head unit?

Well, if you got the Infinity sound upgrade, then i think that all models came with a center speaker (my GT does). I have upgraded all of my audio, and did not replace, and am currently not even running my center speaker. It is a pain in the ass to get too, and finding a head unit with center AND subwoofer outputs is hard. Also, If you have a good set of speakers in the front, I dont think that the center speaker really adds that much to the overall effect. As for the wirering...no, the wireing does not need to be redone. I just left my center connection hanging disconected behind my HU. Upgrading your speaker wires is required if you are running aftermarket speakers though because how the hell else are you going to get wires to your amps? If you disconect your center speaker, dont worry about it....if you dont plan on running it, just leave it back there. Maybe put some tape around the RCA connections so that it doesnt cause static to run through your other speakers....but you are fine to just leave it disconected.

My Budget Setup that sounds REALLY good:
=================================
Kenwood MP3-capable deck ($100 when i bought it, $79 now)
Clarion Equalizer ($100, deal from electronics store since they saw i was going crazy [$170 msrp])
2-12" 'Dual' subs with box and 'Dual' 460-watt amp ($130 at Best Buy [black friday sale])
Boss 800-watt 4-channel amp ($120)
Pioneers Speakers 3-way (2x6.5 & 2x6x9) ($60 a pair)
2 8-gauge Amp Kits ($50)
Self-installation (Free with some sweat and blood)
XM Roady2 Satellite Receiver ($30 [black friday sale@bestbuy])
=====================================
Total: $680

Lol...well, i bought everything piece by piece and until this very moment thought it was a budget system. Damn. Oh well, it still sounds good as fuck :) I spent some extra cash buying cables and DIN heads and shit like that which I probably didn't need, but you live and you learn. BTW, i needed the clarion equalizer because my deck only had one set of RCA-outs and splitting into 3 sets killed the quality of the signal. Besides, this equalizer is much better than the one in the deck, and i can control the sub volume too.

Infinity is pretty good. Alpine, JL, Boston, Eclipse are all good, and should be in your price range. Components are a must if you like music. I regret that I didnt buy them the first time. After I get some new bookshelfs for my room I'll probably pick up a nice set of Alpine or Infinity components.

You've probably already purchased the speakers by now, but I figured I'd post my opinion to help anyone else in the future...

I bought a set of Panasonic speakers for my car. 2 way speakers but are really clear. for the price i was really impressed. They cost around $130 canadian for a pair, but i negotiated mine down to 79.99 canadian lol at Future Shop. I've heard of poeple buying Pioneer speakers as well and have loved them...
anyways Take care guys!

yeah i baught a set of polk momo's and some cheap kenwoods for the back. The kenwoods are rated at 200 wats and evertime i put it load they distort realy bad... its not even that loud. Is it becuase i am just using the head unit or the speakers are just bad?

It all depends, What kinda of deck did you say you had? sorry i shoulda checked before i clicked the post button lol. But it could be a combination of both, but it may be more the speakers, the deck usually doesn't cause distortion like that, unless something is wrong with the wiring which is rare. Do you have a subwoofer or anything attached to it the deck?

Its prolly because you are running of the head unit only. Its likely that the underpowering of them makes them sound just as bad as if they were being overpowerd. Put a small amp on them and I bet it fixes it right up.

Yea true say man...Even if you put a simple 150 watt amp on or something...nothing major, even some no name company will do to keep it cheap. Or if you don't want to do that, I know Rockford Fosgate makes a 150 watt amp, but i think they make a 100 watt one as well which would work perfect for you

I mean, even the stock Infinity system had an amp with it...and those speakers are SHIT...but I will bet they sounded even shittier with just the stock head unit. Because you say they sound crappy at low volume, I bet it's an under-amplification problem. At least try to get like 50-75 amplified watts to each speaker.

Ya, something with that much watts to them needs more than jsut stock...I mean you figure you have replaced all 4 speakers right? front and back, or have you replaced the ones in the dash too? i never bother with them...but yea even with the four....your talking more powerful speakers that need more watts to them rather than all the stock power split up into 4 ways.
