Forget the Din Tool for the radio. Cut a coat hanger in half and bend it into a "U" shape that fits the holes in the front of the radio fascia.
Remove the ashtray and set the parking brake as you'll need the room gained by putting the shifter into low gear.
Slide the hanger wire into the holes in the radio fascia, top and bottom on each side, and gently pull the tools away from each other and pull the unit towards you. The stereo will slide right out. Disconnect the cables to the back of the stereo and then remove the four screws holding the center part of the dash to the rest of the dash assembly. With some gentle persuasion you can now access the relevent controls for AC and Heat.

Thank yoU, Greg, you'd be an excellant addition to my small group of friends for "ghettofying" an automotive project! We will note your instructions with the hanger.

How should the cut ends of the coat hanger be bent so as to grip the cd player/stereo? When you say "U Shaped", do you mean that the cut ends are bent 180 degrees so as to hook into something down in those four little holes, or just that the coathanger is bent so that one end goes into each hole??? Then you would need two coathangers, one for each side. A picture of the end of the "DIN tool" would be great, but a few well chosen words would do too. Thanks
My CD changer has a disc jammed in it that will not eject. If anyone knows how to get the disc to pop out so that I don't have to remove and disassemble the bloody thing, that would be great too.
