First off, radiator hose busted

First off the raditor hose got a crack in it so i changed the hose . It still had some fluid it in . I drove about half a mile and the car ran hot instantly. Tried filling raditor back up and the water would not move from surge tank to the raditor and it is still running hot..What could be the problem?
