replaceing 91 PA level control struts

do the rear air level control struts on the 91 park avenue have to be replaced by the same or can regular struts be used and if so are any kits required

Don't know if theres a kit. I have read on another thead that you can do that, just disconnect the compressor in the engine compartment so it won't run down your battery.

I don't know why you would want to change to a regular strut on a suspension designed for the air assist. Your rear would sag lower than it should even with a new non-air assist strut. I think the springs have a lower rating on a car with LC than the PA without the level control option and use the air strut to stabilize & level the rear with the rest of the car. If you have a problem with the compressor, you may want to consider the manual fill kit.

If you choose to go with the regular strut, use Monroe Sensa-Trac regular strut without air bladders. You can disable your compressor by pulling the fuse under the dash, driver’s side.
