simple performance

this is prolly a stupid question but as with the eclispes there are little things that you can do here or there that improve performance. i was just wondering if there is something like that on like my 98 2.2l.THANKS

intake, exhaust, cams.....it goes on and on....how much money are you going to spend and what type of power do you want to make...?

It is an overhead valve motor. "Cams" . Every naturally aspirated vehicle is the same. Intake, header, exhaust, cam gear, cam, blah blah blah!

Header, catback exhaust and cams are not "little things"

CAI, or even a K&N filter + remove the bong, simple weight reduction. There isnt a whole lot you can do without getting into decent money.

how much are cams and how much horse will they give you

it depends on the style you get....the ones that make more power kill your mileage and cost more.....just have to figure out what its worth to you

yur lookin at money either way u look at it i mean u could boost but thats 2 t o3 g and then without built up enternals yur only gonna be a ble to run 6 to 7 lbs of boost without blowin up

i think those engines are built a little better than that.....6-7 pounds is less than a stock Greddy kit for a Civic which is a comparible car....i don't know anything and i'm not claiming to know anything about Cavy engines, but you don't need to worry about boost pressure as much as you do the total hp the car would make at that pressure. A GT25 and a PT61 at 8 psi is a HUGE difference.....

cams themselves are not terribly expensive but install will kill ya.

Rule: don't buy cams if you can't install them. not only is it gay to pay some dueshbags to do easy work they charge you 38-50 bucks an hr to do it. Changing cams on a DOHC engine is very easy. I dunno how much horsepower you would get from it, but i would go with the most agressive cams you can find. i had after market cams on my Spec v and i didn't notice any decrease in gas mileage at all. you will if you beat on it more because you'll like your new found power lol The cams on my sentra were dyno proven to 8whp. i'm guessing you'll see alittle less then that cause i had a bigger motor and better engineering. i'm willing to bet you'd see at least 5whp and much more with the addition of other mods that would multiply its effects such as intake and exhaust.

ok ok ok ok i get it i get it.. now the question is which ones to get. In the very near future my town will see one of the only turbo cavs around and i would like to know what type of pistons i should get and what company. i want to go lower compresion but how low do i go. as said before 8 psi is a good number but i would like to go higher i know i will need more materials then that but that is the easier part, i would just like a consensious of the group of what kind and what compresion thanks
